Pigma Dengar: DO NOT RESIST. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Fox McCloud: Looks like Pigma's already gone... Who or what are you!? Pigma Dengar:WE WILL ANSWER. WE ARE THE ULTIMATE EXISTANCE. YOU CANNOT RESIST US. YOU WILL JOIN US.
„
~ Pigma Dengar to the Star Fox team after assimilating into the Aparoid hive-mind.
The Aparoids are the main antagonistic force of the 2005 GameCube game, Star Fox: Assault. They are an insidious race of techno-organic insectoids led by their queen, who seek to conquer the Lylat system and eventually the universe.
The Aparoids come in many forms and varieties, but all appear as bio-mechanical insects with offensive capabilities.
Personality[]
Each and every Aparoid is part of a hive-mind controlled by the Aparoid Queen, who desires nothing but absolute subjugation of all existence. Everything built by the Aparoids is made to serve their queen in her conquest.
Powers and Abilities[]
The abilities of each Aparoid species depends on their role. Either they attack their enemies by firing lasers, shooting dark energy spheres, or by simply charging at their foes. But their greatest and most frightening aspect is the ability to assimilate other beings, whether they are living or mechanical, allowing their kind to multiply even further and overwhelm their opponents through sheer numbers.
This entity is the sole member to have free will, and controls the rest. Her appearance is somewhat humanoid at first, but she becomes monstrous later on. Fox and his friends have to kill her to destroy the rest of her kind. Killing her is not easy; she can only be killed by the Self-Destruct program, which would cause apoptosis in her cells.
Aparoid Moth[]
This strange creature is the boss of the Fortuna stage. He takes his design from a moth or butterfly. His main weakness is shooting his wings, and then his heart. Fox McCloud encounters him in the stage A New Enemy, on Fortuna.
This monster was created accidentally when the greedy Pigma stole an Aparoid Core Memory and succumbed to the memory's effects on his way through the Asteroid Belt (which houses the stage The Aparoid Menace). It greatly resembles and mimics the Gorgon from Star Fox 64 almost perfectly, but is not an exact copy of her, and while she can regrow her tentacles, the Pigmaparoid loses its arms permanently.
Biography[]
Past[]
The exact origins of the Aparoid race are unknown. The first known Aparoid suddenly appeared somewhere in the Lylat system around seventeen years ago, when it destroyed an entire Cornerian fleet, leaving few survivors, and then disappeared afterwards.

Trivia[]
The Aparoids appear to be based on the Borg from Star Trek. The Borg assimilate other life forms, and are all connected to their queen.
