The Apes are one of the main species that appear in Plague Inc. in the Special Plagues mode, they are intellectually uplifted animals using the Simian Flu, and can be controlled by the player directly.
They are obviously a homage from the Apes that appear in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise, but unlike these Apes, that are completely innocent and do not have bad intentions, the Apes from the game have a more direct role, spreading the ALZ-113 virus and causing the Simian Flu pandemic that decimates humanity, directly attacking humans and sabotaging the cure progress.
Appearance[]
The Apes at first are shown as just normal primates with no visible difference. In later stages of the infection, they start evolve, having an erect posture and better way of both walking and traveling, the only visible symptom of the infection in Apes is their completely green irises and the war paint on their faces.
Powers and Abilities[]
The Apes have three abilities in the game, they develop them as they become more intelligent.
Their main ability is the Ape Rampage, they go into a brutal behavior, killing as many humans as possible meanwhile they rescue imprisoned apes and destroy the Gen-Sys laboratories, they show to have no mercy to humans, unlike the ones from the films.
They always tend to travel in group and to help between themselves, they like to live in colonies in peace.
It assumed that they have the same abilities as the Apes from the Planet of the Apes films, like using weapons, manufacturing things, taming other savage animals like horses, talking, and practically emulating normal human behavior.
Biography[]
The Simian Flu was created meanwhile the company Gen-Sys was experimenting with a new pathogen, using apes as test subjects, it is assumed that they were trying to cure Alzheimers like in the films. If this is true, then the virus creator was Will Rodman or a similar scientist, and the virus was named ALZ-113 in the laboratory.
The ALZ-113 mutated the apes and improved their intellect, uplifting them from being ordinary animals. After this, it is unknown how the virus escaped and started to infect humans, but is also assumed that the same events from the first film happened, judging by the game's announcements.
After the pandemic started, the Apes went to try to uplift their entire species and replace humans as the dominants on Earth, as they are fully aware of the deadly effects of the ALZ-113 virus, and they spread it on purpose. They also don't have any compassion to humans, unlike in the films.
If the player wins the game, most of humanity will be extinct with only a few surviving, this as human civilization gets destroyed and the Apes outnumber the remaining humans, turning Earth into the "Planet of Apes".
