~ Apocalypse |
En Sabah Nur, also known as Apocalypse, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Magneto) of X-Men: Evolution.
He is one of the world's first mutants who planned to use the Eye of Ages to transform all of humanity into mutants knowing at least half of humanity will die because of it.
He was voiced by David Kaye, who voiced Megatron in Beast Wars and Beast Machines.
Personality[]
Apocalypse is a silent-yet-strong mutant who has been groomed since infancy by his adoptive father to become even more formidable. He is a skilled schemer who has meticulously plotted his objectives. He sees himself as a fated instrument, pushing humankind's growth even farther. All of this suggests that he has a deity complex.
Biography[]
Early Life/Imprisonment[]
En Sabah Nur was born thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt. He was abandoned as an infant due to his grey skin and blue markings. A group of nearby bandits led by Baal heard his cries and adopted him. He wound up becoming their best warrior said by many to be "unbeatable".
One day his Tribe was attacked by the order of Rama-Tut who killed everyone except him. He went on to kill all of his remaining enemies before going to achieve his revenge. Unfortunately for him, Tut had already fled to his own time leaving behind his advanced technology. One such piece of technology was the Eye of Ages which upon learning to harness its power Apocalypse decided to turn everyone into mutants. However it started sucking the life out of him. His servants caged him into the machine and placed it in a chamber with 3 doors that only a mutant could unlock, to insure he would never return they wrote hieroglyphics warning any who sought to free him.
One part of the key to the second door (the Spiderstone) would wind up in the possession of the Worthington Family. While the other Half ended up in a London Museum.
Obtaining the Key to the First Door[]
The mind-bending mutant known as Mesmero kidnapped and brainwashed Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde, Spyke, and Nightcrawler to steal all the components needed to create the Key unlocking the first of the 3 Doors. Although the young Mutants are freed after he loses a mental duel to Charles Xavier, Mesmero manages to escape fleeing to Tibet. In Tibet, Mesmero reaches the Temple housing Apocalypse, he grabs the gold rod from the pillar and forms the key. Upon the first door being unlocked he informs Apocalypse that he's done what was asked and awaits instructions on the location of the final 2 keys.
Destiny's vision[]
At some point Destiny (Irene Adler) has a vision that shows Apocalypse will rise again and hold the fate of Rouge, Mystique and all of Humanity in his hands.
Search for the Spiderstone[]
After finding the location of part of the Spiderstone (Worthington Manor) Mesmero hypnotizes a young mutant thief called Gambit to obtain it for him. Some point afterwards Gambit breaks in, although he is chased outside by Angel he's able to obtain the Relic and deliver it to Mesmero. Mesmero then uses his power to knock Angel out. Just as he's about to leave, Magneto shows up and traps him with Iron Fence Rails. After Mesmero fails to blast Magneto, the latter crushes him until Gambit is released from his hold, Magneto takes the artifact and Mesmero with him to his base telling the mind-bending mutant that they will find out if it was all worth it. Angel awakens shortly thereafter and goes to meet Charles Xavier to find out why it was stolen. Back at the base, Mastermind searches through Mesmero's mind and Tells Magneto the Artifact is one half of the Spiderstone and that when the two halves are combined they form one of the three keys needed to release Apocalypse. Back at the Institute Angel identifies his attacker, Xavier then tells him all about Mesmero, how he manipulated Jean into stealing the rings forming the first key and how the relic he stole is one half of the second key (Spiderstone). Knowing Magneto is after the 2nd half of the stone, Xavier and the X-Men fly to London to retrieve it.
Fighting the Mystical Spider[]
The X-Men arrive just before Magneto and his Acoyltes. The Acoyltes head in and easily dispatch the Security. While the X-Men and Acoyltes are fighting, Magneto finds Mesmero and attempts to trap him into an Elevator which leads to to Mesmero losing his half of the spiderstone the two pieces then meet and fit together forming a Large Mystical Spider. Magneto tries to prevent the spider from escaping but the Spider is barely effected and easily drags him behind it out of the Museum. Mesmero breaks free and tries to escape. Magneto orders his crew to destroy it no matter what, while Xavier tries to talk him out of it since they don't enough to able to do so, Magneto says he knows enough and goes after it, with the X-Men following him. The spider easily beats Colossus, Sabretooth and Pyro to a pulp. Mesmero runs into Xavier who uses his Telepathy to probe Mesmero's mind finally finding out about everything about Apocalypse and the 3 doors. Like the Acoyltes, the X-Men can't stop the spider which reaches a populated area, Gambit hits it with a double-decker bus which slows it down enough for Magneto to catch up. Before the X-Men can stop him Magneto tries to destroy it, Xavier tells him not to knowing exactly what the Spider is, Magneto doesn't listen and barley manages to destroy the Spider with the Stone dropping to the ground. Xavier tells Magneto that this is exactly what Mesmero wanted, that the Spider wasn't a key, but a Guardian of the 3 doors between Apocalypse and the world, that Mesmero manipulated him the whole time knowing that he was the only one with enough power to destroy the guardian unlocking the second door. Xavier informs everyone they need to find out where the Spider was Heading (Tibet), and stop Apocalypse from being unleashed upon the world once again.
Search for the Temple of Apocalypse[]
Just before the X-Men's graduation from high school, Mesmero brings Rogue under his control with the goal of her absorbing the abilities of every known X-Man, Brotherhood and Acolyte so he can give them to Apocalypse.
