~ Locus tells Rickert about apostles. |
The Apostles (使徒 Shito) are the secondary antagonists of the Berserk franchise. They are former humans that have sacrificed their humanity, transforming them into malevolent, mutated creatures. They mostly serve under the God Hand, who decree that they are allowed to do as they please.
Background[]
This typically varies between different apostles, but they were all once human who at one point sacrificed someone they cared for to the God Hand in exchange for their demonic position, sometimes still retaining a small shred of humanity.
Though most apostles serve and worship the God Hand, they do have free will, and as such, a few apostles such as Ganishka have opposed them before, albeit with little success.
A few of the most notable apostles serve under Griffith in the new Band of the Hawk, such as Nosferatu Zodd, Grunbeld, Irvine, Locus, etc.
