Arash Kadivar (Persian: آرش کدیور) is the secondary antagonist of the 2020 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. He is the leader of an unnamed Iranian terrorist organization who played a role in the Iranian hostage crisis, and an associate of the Soviet spy "Perseus".
He was voiced by Navid Negahban, who also voiced Dr. Challus Mercer in Dead Space, and also portrayed Hassan Nadir in Criminal Minds, Abu Nazir in Homeland, Shadow King in Legion, Hassan Nadir in Criminal Minds, Al-Owal in Arrow, and Abir in Dead Air.
Biography[]
Past[]
Arash Kadivar was born on August 25th, 1941, in Iran moments after the Allied Invasion on the country, and was born to a father who was an avid supporter of prime minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and his government. After Mosaddegh was overthrown in a coup, Arash's father was imprisoned, tortured, and killed for his views.
Arash grew up embittered with the west, and became attracted to political resistant movements, and would meet Qasim Javadi at one meeting in Tehran. Arash and Qasim would start an unnamed Iranian terrorist cell, a terrorist organization that would play a big part in the Iranian hostage crisis and would become associates of the Soviet spy "Perseus", Anton Volkov, Vadim Rudnik, and Robert Aldrich.
Kadivar was more reluctant to associate with the USSR, but agreed to work with them since they also shared an interest in ousting the United States and burning the rest of the west. Arash would meet with Perseus on certain occasions, and developed jealousy towards the latter's lieutenant, as the lieutenant was praised for being his best operative. During the 1980s, Perseus developed more of an interest in the Middle East and had the terrorist cell be a proxy by having them take hostages.
Turkey[]
In 1981, Kadivar went to a scheduled meeting at the Trabzon airport in Turkey while Qasim stayed in Amsterdam, but Arash shot Perseus' lieutenant and one of his men out of jealousy. Unbeknownst to Kadivar, Qasim was interrogated by the CIA into giving away his location and was saved from being shot by one of his men. Kadivar attempted to escape via a cargo plane, but CIA operatives Russell Adler, Alex Mason, and Frank Woods managed to crash the plane by using an RC car. Kadivar survived the crash, and taunted the operatives, revealing that Perseus was still alive and that he would burn the west before being shot in the head by Adler.
Legacy[]
Kadivar failed to kill Perseus' lieutenant, and the soldier was rescued by Adler and brainwashed into becoming a US operative code named "Bell" to locate Perseus. Due to Kadivar's jealousy, he indirectly aided the United States into stopping Perseus from detonating American nukes across Europe and revealed that the Soviet spy was still alive and at large. Kadivar later appears in the game in "Bell's" memory in "Break on Through", where Arash is seen with "Perseus" telling of their plan to detonate nukes across Europe.
