Arcanette, also known as Mindt, is the main antagonist of Temenos's Story and one of the main antagonists overall in Octopath Traveler II. As Mindt, she is a cleric of a Flamechurch branch of the Order of The Sacred Flame, who prays for "atonement". However, she is secretly the leader of the Moonshade Order, as Arcanette. She is a close friend of Temenos.
She is voiced by Reina Ueda in Japanese dub and Judy Alice Lee in English dub.
Appearance[]
Arcanette has a long dark green hair and wears blue and white cleric robe with gold ornaments and black shoes. She wore golden headband to keep her real identity as the civilian.
Personality[]
Arcanette, as Mindt, is a nice individual that spends her time watching children playing, in order to escape punishment and keeping her real identity of the leader of the Moonshade Order to escape punishment. Beneath her nice facade, she is a wicked and nihilistic individual who manipulates others for her own benefit and schemes the plan to bring the end of the world. She pretends to be nice person or reformed, all to escape from people's suspicion of the rumored Moonshade Order. She never once raised her voice, even after her true nature is revealed.
Biography[]
As the leader of the Moonshade Order, Arcanette is an immortal who, is Vide the Wicked's devotee, would bring her god to the mortal plane. She oversees the slaughter of the Kals and then manipulates Dena to avenge her people decades ago before the game's main story. Arcanette She currently assumed the identity of Sister Mindt in Flamechurch, to get to know Temenos's tale of Aelfric's battle against Vide. However, as the game progresses, she is the mastermind behind Pontiff Jörg's murder and Roi's disappearance. She managed to got away from Temenos's suspicions at Flamechurch until Pontiff Jörg discovered her identity of being the leader of the Moonshade Order. As a result, she ordered Vados to kill the pontiff. The most undoubtly vile action is manipulating a grieving Tanzy into becoming a part of the Moonshade Order to be a sacrificial asset for ressurecting Vide the Wicked. Arcanette also wanted to crush Temenos's demeanor before killing him and the other eight travelers, even if it means to show her true colors. This ultimately leads to her death.

- In Japanese localization, Inquiring/Scrutinizing Mindt prior to the final chapter shows that upon reading the first characters on the leftmost of her profile (「全てうそ」) translates to "all lies".
- Her name is a portmanteau of arcane and marionette, fitting for a manipulative and magic-using villainness.
