Archie, better known as the Arch-Illager, is the main antagonist of Minecraft Dungeons and the titular main protagonist of its prequel novel, Rise of the Arch-Illager.
He is an outcast Illager who encountered and was manipulated by the Heart of Ender into being a cruel tyrant who seeks to take over the world with his army.

Banished[]
Archie was a lonely Illager. He never had any friends and barely knew his parents, given that they died when he was really young. He was bullied by a tougher Illager named Thord, and Archie just can`t imagine when to take his revenge against Thord. When Archie grew up, he was a pretty small Illager and had a big head, and was bullied by others because of that. He also wasn`t strong and big enough to participate in raids or any other Illager conquests. One day, a human named Karl, more commonly called Smacker, exterminates a whole Illager raiding party. The only ones to survive were Thord and Archie. When returning to their woodland mansion, Thord explained to Walda, the leader of Archie`s tribe, of the news, and blamed Archie on their failure. Archie got angry, and so he attacked Thord, causing Walda to banish Archie from the mansion.
A New Home[]
Archie began an exodus, eventually making his way to a village in the Squid Coast. There, Archie met Yumi, a kind, old villager who graciously invited him to live with them. Ever since then Archie became friends with Yumi. Over a year later, "Smacker" arrived at the Squid Coast village, and Smacker focused his attention on Archie, given that he was an Illager. Karl threatened to kill the short Illager, and persuaded the Villagers to drive him out. Yumi told Archie that he has no choice but to run in order to ensure his safety.
Meeting the Orb of Dominance[]
Archie, once again, was lost. He began to journey throughout the wilderness. As he was travelling, Archie had a feeling that a voice was in his head, calling out to come to it. As Archie moved on, the voice got more and more vivid, and Archie could tell that it was not from his head. Archie made his way to a jungle, and can hear the voice calling out to him to come closer and closer. Archie eventually made his way on top of a mountain to a jungle temple. There Archie found a trail of Redstone Golems deactivated. Archie climbed up on top of pillars and found an orb. The orb was the voice in his head. The orb said its name was the Orb of Dominance, and goaded Archie to come closer. Archie touched the Orb, with it explaining that they are one and that ultimate power will be theirs. Archie can feel all the power course through him, and laughed maniacally for hours.
Rise to Power[]
Archie the next morning thought it was all a dream, but found the Orb was still in his hands, it gave him plenty of food out of thin air and served them to him. Husks started attacking, and Archie got scared, but the Orb vaporized the Husks to ash. Redstone Golems soon sprung to life, and bowed before Archie, given that he was in possession of the Orb of Dominance. The Orb crafted a staff for Archie to put the Orb on. Later the Orb introduced Archie to the old structures of the Highblock Keep and the Obsidian Pinnacle. The Orb told Archie that it was all his. Later, Archie saved Thord and the raiding party he was commanding from undead mobs. He eventually was anointed as the Arch-Illager, and began raiding the village of Squid Coast.
Though the raid was a success, with Karl driven away by the Redstone Monstrosity and the other four heroes arriving late due to Archie using his now allied undead to set fire to their houses, Archie not only lost all hope of reconciling with Yumi and other Villagers, but came to realize that he was serving the Orb of Dominance, not the other way round.
Minecraft Dungeons[]
After most of his army was defeated, the heroes cornered Arch-Illager on top of the obsidian pinnacle. Halfway through battle, he was taken over and used as a vessel by the Orb of Dominance's true form - Heart of Ender. When Heart of Ender was defeated, Archie stayed alive and feared retribution at the hands of the heroes, only for Valorie to reach out her hand to him, which he took, making peace with her and her comrades.

Trivia[]
- Even though he is only present in the base story of Minecraft Dungeons, there are occasional references to him in the DLCs, such as a statue of him in the Panda Plateau of Jungle Awakens.
- In the Creeping Winter DLC, there are portraits of him in the Lone Fortress, with some having words like "weak" or "foe" written in Illageralt. These paintings suggest that not all Illagers support Archie's rule, or they abandoned him after he made peace with the heroes, even seeing him as an enemy.
