Archbishop Maximilien is a major antagonist in the Freak island series.
He was the head of the vatican cruch which specialize in dark magic and occult knowledge he was the former superior of Mariko Glaccias who sent her to discover Zanta maria and the magic of the island. He would be later sent to the island alongside his forces for the child of perception. There he and his forces would soon fight the family for the child. After which he is shown to use high power of magic capalbite of using illusion and mind games where he manages to overpower most of the family and was capepabal of using flames to burn them starting with mari untill Takahisa intervines saving mari and latewr yoshikazu with Kaoru deafting the archbishop. However the archbishop survived and took over a priest's body for it. There he would later seek up on the cruch where he witnesses the birth of the child of perception and gleefully sees this going for the propchey coming true until the family shows up and kills it much to his dismay. He would later witness the dead coming back to life and saw takahisa trying to save uehara and later learns of the book of aprocfia and later decides to get it from higashiyama who lost it. He would witness the family trying to get the book which gives the archbishop an idea. he would use the stone to get to higashiyama and reveals that Uehara is still alive with the book convince Takahisa to get the book to have uehara for himself however when uehara reveals her true colors takahisa's slashers her arm and the book activates which causes uehara to transform.
