Archduke Gorgon is a major antagonist in Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger. He first appears as a henchman of Dr. Hell, but was later revealed to only be using Dr. Hell and his army to further his own goals. In fact, Gorgon was a double agent for the Mycenae Empire, secretly serving Great General of Darkness and Minister Argos.
He was voiced by Osamu Kato.
Biography[]
Shortly after Dr. Hell murdered his colleagues, Gorgon appeared to accuse him of stealing Mykene's technology and demanded that he forfeit the robots he had stolen. However, Hell was able to calm him down and make a deal with him to use Mycenae's technology to take over the world but if he had troubles.
After suffering a humiliating defeat when his plan looked to be on the verge of succeeding, Hell chose to swallow his pride and asking Gorgon for help. Gorgon agreed to offer his assistance but, secretly, he intended to only use Dr. Hell to defeat Mazinger Z while covertly undermining his efforts at world domination. In the final battle between Hell and Mazinger Z, Gorgon left Hell to perish to ensure both of them were destroyed.
Following Dr. Hell's demise, Gorgon rejoined his superiors in the Mycenae Empire to assist them in their invasion. However, due to a power struggle within the Empire Gorgon wound up demoted to a low-ranked soldier before dying when he sacrificed himself to protect the Warrior Beast Dandaros from Great Mazinger's Thunder Strike.
Personality[]
Gorgon was very prideful, boasting and daring, and despite his supposed alliance with Dr. Hell, he constantly showed his scorn for Hell and his henchmen. Despite this, he did show respect for Ashura after his/her death.
