| ~ Arcos upon first meeting Steed |
Arcos is the main antagonist of the Avengers episode They Keep Killing Steed. He is a mad scientist who wants to replicate John Steed and sabotage a peace conference.
At the beginning of the episode, Arcos visits his lab hideout concealed in an entrance resembling Steed's car. He sees a man resembling Steed and his face is messed up. With the ears and nose wrong, Arcos announces he must kidnap the genuine Steed and kills the panicking imposter whom he calls "despensible".
Later, Arcos and Zerson abduct Steed in a cab and drive him to their hideout. Acros intends to forge Steed's face onto one of his goon's face. At first, Arcos arranges to make Nadine a Steed clone, but then Steed sets up other kits to confuse the villains, each for Perova, Mintoff, Georgio and Bowler.
While playing chess with Arcos, Steed uses his knight while Arcos uses his pawns while Nadine is killed by his defective mask. Arcos loses while Mother raises the security at the conference. Arcos drinks with Steed and warns that a percussion bomb will be planted within the chairman's gavel, so that when he calls the conference to order, it will be a chaotic explosion. Hearing that, Steed breaks out and knocks out the villains.
Sometime after Steed thwarts the explosion and saves the conference members, he finds Arcos himself is now wearing Steed's face. The scientist then gloats how he will leave his hideout wearing the face of the most respected agent in the United Kingdom and the two fight. Arcos, being a Steed imposter races out of his hideout and tries to warn his top henchman Zerson, but Zerosn thinking him to be Steed shoots him dead. As Arcos dies, his face returns to normal.
