Ari Haswari was the older paternal half-brother of Ziva David and younger maternal half-brother of Sergei Mishnev. He was one of NCIS agent Gibbs' archnemesis' because of his role in the death of his agent, Kate Todd.
Ari Haswari was the main antagonist in seasons one and two and the titular main antagonist in the season three opener “Kill Ari Parts One and Two”.
Even after his well deserved death (being shot in the head by his sister, Ziva David, saving Gibbs), Ari became the overarching antagonist in season 12 and the first half of season 17.
Biography[]
He was the result of a union between Mossad agent Eli David and Saudi national Dr. Hasami Haswari. As a child, he was close to his half-brother Sergei until the latter's father took him to Russia and Ari's father took him back home.
He gained two half-sisters Ziva and Tali from his father's marriage and had a strong bond with them, as his youngest sister Tali's death devastated him. When he was growing up, his father wanted him to take over his agency and so trained him in many fields. Although Ari possessed great skill and was a ladies man, the training took a toll on his mind and he would go onto hold extreme resentment to his father for pushing him so far.
As an adult, Ari took his mother's surname to distance himself from his father and went onto graduate from medical school. He later continued to express resentment to his upbringing and working become an international terrorist and elusive enemy of NCIS agent Gibbs.
From a roof top, he sniped at Agent Caitlin Todd, shooting her through the head. He subsequently goes underground while plotting to kill the NCIS team in the future.
Legacy[]
In the season 10 finale when Gibb's lawyer questions him about the villains he has killed personally, asking if their deaths were really necessary. He names off: Ari, Agent Michelle Lee, Paloma Reynosa, and Harper Dearing.
During Season 12, his brother Sergei found out about his death, he was grief-stricken and swore vengeance on Gibbs, who took the blame to cover for Ziva. Sergei killed Gibbs' second ex-wife in front of him and went underground when Gibbs nearly killed him. Fortunately, FBI Agent Fornell killed Sergei by shooting him in the head.
