Armando de la Ossa is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Hugo Múler) in the overall second story arc of the Netflix series Elite.

He serves as the main antagonist of the fourth season, the overarching antagonist of the fifth season and a minor antagonist of the sixth season.

He is a middle-aged wealthy businessman who starts prostituing Mencía, then attempts to kill Ari when she finds out, before he is killed by Guzmán. Even after his death, Benjamín shows his true face when it is revealed that they have been involved in illegal business of their own.

He is portrayed by Andrés Velencoso.

Personality[]

Armando is, at the surface, a very polite and slightly persuasive man, who treats Mencía with utmost respect - as long as he gets what he wants from her. He appears to be kind and helpful at first, but the moment Mencía refuses to sleep with him, he starts threatening and blackmailing her, showing how agressive and manipulative he is, and that he doesn't take no for an answer.

He reveals his true face at the New Year's Eve party when an intoxicated Ari threatens to tell Benjamín about how Armando abused Mencía. As Ari calls her father, Armando attacks her and beats her until Guzmán arrives, when he runs away and hides.

Biography[]

Background[]

Armando used to attend the secondary school Las Encinas and graduated. At some point, he met Benjamín and became good friends and business partners. He is a businessman with a lot of influences and happens to own a lot of hotels. Armando also became president of the Las Encinas Alumni. According to Sandra, he often brings underage girls to his bar.

Season 4[]

Armando is first seen when he approaches Mencía at a bar, having texted Rebeka to come and see her. However, when Rebeka never shows up, Armando offers her a drink, she accepts and earns the trust of the seemingly kind-hearted stranger, with whom she opens up a bit about the tense relationship with her family. Looking for a place to spend the night, Armando allows her to sleep at his place and stay as long as she needs. She invites Armando to sleep with her and kisses him. As a result, the two of them start an affair. However, the next morning when she wakes up, Mencía finds some money left by Armando, indicating that he is prostituing her, despite the fact that she is underage. Mencía uses said money to buy herself a lot of expensive things, after her father Benjamín, with whom she has a estranged relationship, cuts her off from the family wealth after losing his patience over her rebellious behaviour. That is until Benjamín finds the money and refuses to give it back to Mencía unless she confesses who gave it to her (mainly suspecting Rebeka and Sandra); she doesn't and Mencía flips him off.

Meanwhile, while they are at the bar and Armando leaves momentarily, Mencía is met by Sandra who warns her that Armando is not a good influence because he often brings a lot of young girls like her to this bar, but Mencía (not knowing that she is actually Rebeka's mother) dismisses her, telling her to mind her own business. Later on, when Mencía is having sex with Rebeka at her place, Sandra suddenly arrives and Rebeka awkwardly introduces them to each other. Realizing that Mencía is the same girl from the bar, Sandra blackmails her into breaking up with Rebeka or she will tell her about her involvement with Armando as prostitute. Mencía, in turn, also blackmails Sandra into butting out of their relationship, having figured out that Sandra is still selling drugs without Rebeka's knowledge, despite having promised her not to do that ever again.

When a friend of Armando's sexually abuses Mencía, she is rescued by Rebeka, who wants to report the incident to the police but Mencía refuses, not wanting anyone to find out. Ari, Mencía's sister, notices marks on her body, but she is only quick to suspect Phillipe, the new student of French-Spanish royalty whose rumours of sexual assault are spread out to the school, although he truthfully denies it. A car approaches Mencía and it is Armando, who has found out about what his friend did to Mencía and apologizes to her by offering her a ride home. Reluctantly, she accepts. They are recorded by Sandra from afar and she sends the video to Rebeka. When Rebeka confronts her about this, Mencía finally reveals to Rebeka that her mother is still selling drugs. Rebeka leaves her house upon knowing this and decides to stay with Mencía.

Mencía asks Phillipe to get her and Rebeka the tickets for them to watch Ambar Lucid. However, she is disappointed to hear that Phillipe was unable to get the tickets. Armando settles the situation by getting the tickets himself to Mencía and Rebeka, who is shown to distrust Armando´s motives with Mencía. She starts asking him a lot of questions, so Armando tries to leave but Mencía insists that he stay and tries get Rebeka to understand that he is just trying to help her. As she watches Ambar Lucid sing, Armando tries to touch Mencía´s butt and she pushes him away. Armando asks her if she was misinterpreting something as she was always accepting his gifts. Armando tries to touch her again but she makes him leave. By this point, Armando starts slowly showing his true face to Mencía, that of a cunning, aggresive, violent and manipulative man who does not truly love her and only wants to take advantage of her. Armando starts blackmailing Mencía for sex and threatening to tell her family about her job as a prostitute when they first met when she threatens to tell her father about what he did to her. This happens when Armando shows up at her family's house, having been invited over for lunch by Benjamín for an annual donation to the school. Benjamín suspects Mencía is hiding something when he notices her tension over Armando's presence, also finding it strange that she is friends with a man who is 30 years older than her, and tells her that if something is going on she can tell him, although Mencía denies it. Because of this and fearing for Rebeka's safety, Mencía starts pushing her away. Nevertheless, Rebeka then tells Ari about Armando's intentions with Mencía, but as usual, Mencía denies it when Ari asks her if it's true.

Armando later shows up to the New Year's Eve party at Club Del Lago, where Mencía is all by herself and tells her that he wants to spend New Year with her. Mencía is surrounded by Armando who tries again to touch her, but she fights back. "You entered my house, you entered my fucking relationship, what else do you want from me??!!", angrily shouts Mencía and calls him "fucking crazy", at which point the enraged Armando grabs her by the face and tries to attack her until Rebeka, who still confirms to Ari the fact about Armando, kicks him into a boat, saving her life and telling her that even if Mencía doesn't need her help she'll always be there before the two of them escape as he angrily yells out Mencía's name. An inebriated Ari then confronts Armando and tells him that she will tell everything to her father, who will be ruining his life and reputation in a matter of seconds. As Ari pulls out her cellphone to contact her father, Armando demands that she give it to him. When she refuses, Armando slaps and throws her to the ground. Ari picks up her phone, begging for help as Armando repeatedly beats her up. Guzmán, who was fighting Samuel over a misunderstanding with Ari and he slides towards Cayetana who checks on him, hears a message from Ari through Samuel's cellphone asking to meet at the pier. Guzmán quickly arrives and sees the weakened Ari injured, just as Armando attempts to escape. Guzmán asks her what Armando has done to her and she tells Guzmán to go get him. Ari stands up but falls into the lake. Guzmán follows Armando into a storage room where he grabs a stick and the two fight each other, ending with Armando trapping Guzmán on a shelf. Releasing himself and rising to his feet, Guzmán, to defend himself, grabs a firework gun and aims at Armando, who attempts to run but is too late as Guzmán quickly shoots him in the back with it, finally killing him as he falls to the ground and coughs up blood.

When the scared Guzmán tells Samuel and Rebeka what he did, they come up with a plan to prevent him from going to prison: Guzmán, Rebeka and Samuel take Armando's corpse and drop it into the river with an anchor so that he will never be found, then Armando is considered alive and missing by everyone else when Guzmán falsely declares that Armando had knocked him out and disappeared without a trace. Mencía finally tells her father (though her dialogues remain unaudible) everything Armando did to her, making Benjamín explode into a treacherous rage, breaking a glass of wine and a table made of glass.
