The Armenians are a mafia-style criminal gang that appear in the video game Grand Theft Auto V. The Armenians are enigmatic and little is known about them, they are most likely inspired by the real-life Armenian Mob.
Biography[]
The Armenian Mob in Los Santos is a low-profile but organized criminal group, operating primarily out of Rogers Salvage and Scrap in La Puerta. Members are recognizable by their brown leather jackets, dress suits, gold chains, and distinctive accents. Although little is known about their full operations, they are connected to Simeon Yetarian, a car dealer who employs Franklin Clinton and Lamar Davis. Simeon appears to rely on their protection, as seen during a random encounter in Grand Theft Auto V.
In Grand Theft Auto Online, the Armenian Mob appears in various Gang Attacks, including at a hobo encampment near Mount Chiliad, the projects in southern Rancho, and a farm north of La Fuente Blanca. However, they share these spawn locations with other groups like the Triads and Professionals. Defeating them multiple times triggers a threatening message and a bounty on the player’s head.
The Armenian Mob is also involved in high-stakes criminal activities. In The Diamond Casino Heist, they are one of the potential buyers for stolen goods. In the Los Santos Tuners update, they appear in The Bank Contract, where players exchange marked bills for unmarked cash. In The Contract update, the Armenian Mob takes control of the Vanilla Unicorn strip club during a mission, where players must fight them to retrieve a stolen watch.
Their influence and aesthetic seem inspired by the real-life Armenian Power gang, a crime syndicate in Los Angeles known for mimicking the style of local Sureño gangs and maintaining an alliance with the Mexican Mafia. This connection is reflected in their appearance and their role in Los Santos' criminal underworld.
