The Army of Hell is a group of villains who appear in the Dragon Ball anime trilogy, with three total appearances - Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, Dragon Ball: Shin Budokai - Another Road, and the Super 17 Saga of Dragon Ball GT. They are a large army of previous killed Dragon Ball villains that escaped from Hell through either dimensional magic or inter-dimensional portal opening. The army is led by Frieza and later by Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu.
History[]
Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn[]
When Janemba opened the gates to Hell, Frieza led his army out of Hell and began attacking Satan City in an attempt to destroy the Z-Fighters. When Gohan and Videl arrived, Frieza confronted them and sent his army to destroy Gohan, but Gohan flew right through them and killed Frieza with a single punch. After Frieza's death, his army immediately scattered and fled in fear, they are later sent back to Hell.
Dragon Ball: Shin Budokai - Another Road[]
When Janemba returned once more, a much more powerful Frieza left with Cell and Cooler in an attempt to find the Dragon Balls. Eventually, Cell was defeated by the time-displaced Gohan and Frieza was defeated by the combined power of Android 18 and Potential-Unlocked Krillin when they managed to use their love in order to remove most of Frieza's power. Cooler then surrendered to Gohan and was sent back to Hell.
Dragon Ball GT[]
Thanks to a plot of Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu, the Android 17 and Hell Fighter 17 opened a portal who led several villains out of Hell an began to cause chaos on Earth. But Trunks, Goten, Pan, Majuub and Vegeta killed them again and sent them back to Hell.

Trivia[]
- Baby and Broly were notably not among the dead villains released from Hell during the Super 17 Saga, nor were they encountered by Goku when he was trapped in Hell. Whether an in-universe reason for this exists is not known. Adding to this is the fact that Hell as depicted in GT and filler episodes of Z is contrary to the original manga, in which the denizens of Hell did not keep their bodies. For Baby Likely, this was an editorial decision to avoid bringing Baby back right after he was destroyed; also, he would have been (or become) markedly more powerful than almost any other escapee at that point, reducing their threat or making the undead army theoretically unstoppable.
- Despite this, Baby still appears as one of the escapees in Dragon Ball Z: Scouter Battle Taikan Kamehameha - Ora to Omee to Scouter while strangely retaining his Super Baby 2 form and later fighting the Z Fighters in his Golden Great Ape form (despite the forms being Vegeta possessed by Baby). He was then defeated and sent back to Hell along with the other villains.
- It's unclear why Android 19 and Major Metalitron have souls in Hell when they are purely robotic in life, this is likely an anime-only detail to which androids can technically have souls despite being artificial creations.
- Pui Pui and Yakkon can be seen with Majin symbols on them when they escaped from Hell, hinting that Babidi once again mind controlled them before they escaped.
