Artemis Zogg is the main antagonist of the Ratchet & Clank comic book mini-series. Originally a well-meaning scientist wanting to become Galactic President of the Polaris Galaxy, Artemis would turn to villainy after Captain Qwark stole his candidacy and shut down his greatest work, leading him to start his own Galaxy made out of stolen planets.
History[]
Zogg had long known of Max Apogee, father of Talwyn. Following his exploits, Artemis would eventually learn of the Dimensionator and the possibilities it had. This led him to create Helios, a teleportation system that could warp planets away from disasters such as Black Holes. One such person he showed this to was Captain Qwark, who he had hoped would endorse his future candidacy for president. Just before Qwark was going to go on stage, Qwark's former agent Cyrus appeared before him. Cyrus talked Qwark into taking the position instead, with the intent of riding the potential coattails of Qwark's presidency. Seeing the glory, Qwark agreed, disheartening Zogg. Despite this, Zogg would keep up a happy face to the best of his ability. This however turned to anger when Qwark cancelled the Helios Project, deeming it too dangerous, and reminded of the damage Tachyon did with the Dimensionator. Having snapped, Zogg decided to finish the project, and use it to steal planets from multiple galaxies to create his own.
