~ Arthur speaking to the Widow. |
Arthur is a supporting character in the AMC Series Into the Badlands.
He is a Bowler Clipper who served the Widow during the war against Baron Chau. Due to the Widow sending him and his friends to die on the front lines with very few resources, he and fellow Bowler Wren decide to attempt a coup in which they overthrow the Widow and end the war themselves.
He was portrayed by George Sear.
Personality[]
Arthur is shown to be a skilled Clipper, helping to keep the Widow's camp outside the controlled pass between her and Chau's Territory secure in the absence of the Regent. Arthur was willing to go through the controlled pass despite every other Clipper doing so having been killed in the process. The lack of help and resources to the Clippers on the front lines causes Arthur to Arthur to work alongside Wren to start a coup d'état against the Widow. Despite this, Arthur was shown to be a lot more bloodthirsty than the other Clippers who betrayed the Widow, killing the Sniper from the controlled pass despite Sunny ordering him not to, and shooting the Widow's lover Gaius Chau in the shoulder with a crossbow, something that even shocked Wren.
Biography[]
Fighting at Sniper Ally[]
When Sunny and Bajie arrive at the Sniper Ally, they lie and say Sunny is the new Regent of the Widow's territory and enlist the help of several Clippers to get through the ally, including Arthur and Wren. Arthur is the most skeptical of Sunny's claim of being the Regent, but still agrees to go with him through the ally. During the group attempt to get through, Wren is shot several times, and Arthur helps the group retreat and carry Wren to safety. Enraged by what has happened to her, Arthur goes with Sunny on his second attempt to get through the ally, and successfully diverts the Sniper's attention long enough for Sunny to get through. After Sunny defeats the Sniper in battle, he ties him up but decides not to kill him, as the Sniper is just another young adult forced into the war between the Widow and Baron Chau. Despite his order not to kill him, Arthur slits the Sniper's throat due to how many of his fellow Bowler's the Sniper killed. Sunny is enraged at this, but can't bring himself to kill Arthur since he is just like the Sniper, forced into a war where he will likely die on the front lines killing others. Later, when Nathaniel Moon comes through the camp looking for Sunny, Arthur asks for more resources to be sent, but Nathaniel refuses, even threatening Arthur and stabbing him in the shoulder when he insists further.
Coup d'état[]
Arthur and Wren decide to work together to overthrow the Widow so that they can force an armistice between her and the Widow. The two of them, combined with several others Clippers from their camp and invade the Widow's home, flooding it with gas that that incapacitates the Widow and her lover Gaius Chau. The two of them are imprisoned together in a cell, where they are confronted by Arthur and Wren. Arthur angrily tells the Widow that he wants to see an immediate end to the conflict, but when Gaius attempts to grab and disarm him through the cell bars, Arthur shoots him in the shoulder with his crossbow, telling him the next bolt will go through his skull. The coup is eventually ended due to the arrival of Lydia and Nathaniel, who bring their own Clipper force to overpower the treasonous Clippers. As this is happening, the Widow and Gaius decide that they need to break out of their cell. Arthur arrives to mock the Widow over her failure, clearly trying to get a rise out of her. Gaius warns her that Arthur is only trying to get under her skin, but she admits that it worked, and proceeds to grab him through the prison cell bars and stab him in the neck with the crossbow bolt he used to shoot Gaius in the shoulder, then grabbing the cell keys off of his body and freeing herself and Gaius.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Martial Arts/Swordsmanship: Arthur is shown to be very capable in direct combat, being able to defeat several Clippers during the coup against the Widow, and it required a veteran warrior like the Widow to take him down.
- Archery: Arthur showed himself to be proficient in archery, able to match well with the deadly sniper positioned in Sniper Ally, and using his skill to kill several Clippers during the invasion of the Widow's compound.
Trivia[]
- Arthur is shown to be significantly more violent than the other Clippers involved in the coup against the Widow, it is implied he acts this way due to watching several of his friends be killed in Sniper Ally.
