Arthur Kiel is the supporting antagonist of the Criminal Minds: Evolution episode "Forget Me Knots". Kiel is a devoted accomplice of serial killer Elias Voit, with orders to kill Ramona Havener after Voit kidnaps her.
He's portrayed by James Babson.
Biography[]
Kiel lived in Indio, California and attempted to hang his grandmother, for which he served prison time. Five years prior to the episode, he was paroled, and he eventually crossed Voit's darknet organization of violent criminals. Seeing how suspectable Kiel was, Voit seduced him into the operations, directly providing Kiel with victims Voit wanted dead but Voit would be traced to if he killed them personally. Kiel became a strong asset for Voit, as well as patient in between murders knowing that Voit was provided thrills from violence for him directly.
Voit was done with Ramona after pretending she was his wife to practice talking with Voit's actual wife Sydney about his crimes. Voit called Kiel and told him Ramona was ready for Kiel to murder. Kiel strung Ramona up with his usual M.O., where she would have to stay awake to not drop against the noose around her neck so she wouldn't hang. Kiel was furious when police scanners reported the search for her, so he called Voit in protest, but Voit simply said to stick to the plan. Kiel was cornered by the FBI to stop him from running, and he took shots at Agent David Rossi to stop his car. As Voit's agreement with his network was they'd die to protect the organization, Kiel committed suicide by cop when Rossi shot him in return fire.
Trivia[]
- Kiel is inspired by Veronica Compton, accomplice of serial killer Kenneth Bianchi, one of the "Hillside Stranglers". Compton was ordered to hang a woman to cast suspicion away from Bianchi, but the woman lived and the plan ultimately failed.
