Arthur Novak

Arthur Novak is a wealthy crime lord who once resided in Mexico and gained a lot of power over the local law enforcement and authorities in a town. He is the father to AJ Novak and a man who wanted to take Isabel Reyes's land for himself. After his defeat and arrest, he escapes his imprisonment and wanted to ruin Hondo's life before killing him out of revenge. He is a major antagonist in the season 5 of S.W.A.T..

Novak was portrayed by Timothy V Murphy, who also played Ian Doyle in Criminal Minds.

Biography[]

Arthur Novak is a criminal who emigrated to Mexico. Since his stay in Mexico, he uses his wealth to influence the police to allow him to commit his crimes and take possession of people's lands. Arthur intended on taking possession of Isabel Reyes's land and had his son and his colleague intimidate her family into giving away the land. Hondo intervened in his son's acts of intimidation which later got Arthur Novak's attention. After Hondo single-handedly beat Arthur's son and associates, Arthur wanted to meet Hondo and negotiate him. Hondo did not want to negotiate with Arthur and wanted him to leave Isabel and Delfina alone. Arthur refuses and his interactions with Hondo becomes increasingly more hostile. After the Arthur's son kidnaps Delfina and Hondo kills him to rescue her, Arthur became furious at Hondo and assembled a group of men to go after him and murder him.

Hondo, with the help of Charro, evades Arthur's men as they attempt to kill him. Hondo agrees to meet with Arthur after the conflict, but Hondo and Charro ambushes Arthur's men and gets into a gun fight. As Charro is able to rescue Delfina, Hondo gets into a gun fight with Arthur and is able to shoot him in the shoulders to disarm him. Arthur pleads with Hondo to not kill him, which the latter admits he is not going to do. Arthur is treated for his injuries and arrested. Despite what happened, the police chief decides to not help Arthur out of this situation and have him imprisoned.

Despite losing everything and getting imprisoned, Arthur, motivated by his hatred of Hondo for murdering his son and ruining what he had, concocted a plan to ruin his life. Arthur got out of prison in Mexico and entered the United States to reside in Los Angeles, California. Arthur got a man to kidnap two police officers and had the man stage their killings on camera in addition to using image and voice editing software to make it look like Hondo killed two police officers before releasing the video to the public. As the police went after Hondo, Hondo encounters Arthur in a restaurant while the latter was investigating the crime. Arthur gloats and mocks Hondo and tells him that this is the beginning of his plan to ruin Hondo's life. After Hondo gets arrested and released by the LAPD, Arthur calls Hondo to threaten him with the intent of wanting to kill everyone he loves out of revenge. Hondo realizes that Arthur intends to have his men kill his S.W.A.T. team as they go after a lead linked to Arthur. Despite his team surviving Arthur's attack, Hondo gets very angry and attempts to confront Arthur on his own. Deacon and Street are able to convince Hondo to not fall for Arthur's taunts.

Arthur prepares to leave Los Angeles on a plane after his men attempts to kill to the two cops his colleagues capture. As the gun fight ensues, Hondo and his S.W.A.T. team is able to stop Arthur from attempting to the leave. Arthur is arrested by the LAPD and imprisoned.
