Asmodeus is the main antagonist of the 2023 supernatural horror film The Pope's Exorcist, based on the 1990 book An Exorcist Tells His Story and the 1992 book An Exorcist: More Stories.
He is a king of Hell and a powerful demon who demon feeds on exorcists.

History[]
Past[]
Asmodeus was trying to find 200 rogue angels buried into the earth and raise an army with them to destroy the Church. So in 1475, he possessed a monk in Segovia. While the exorcist Friar de Ojeda was questioning hin, Asmodeus answered him from the mouth of another and then a third person and eventually managed to possess the exorcist himself. As the Friar, Asmodeus convinced Queen Isabella of the need for an Inquisition, beginning centuries of persecution and torture in "the name of God". The Vatican must have known this and covered it up, burying Asmodeus and the truth behind a abbey in Spain.
The Pope's Exorcist[]
Centuries later, a construction work in the abbey freed Asmodeus from his cage and possessed the body of the young Henry Vasquez. He wanted to lure Father Gabriele Amorth to the abbey to possess him and hide amongst the "righteous", commiting heinous acts in the name of God again.
