The Ass Crack Bandit is a minor antagonist in the sitcom Community, specifically serving as the main antagonist of the episode Basic Intergluteal Numismatics. They are a prankster who puts coins down people's buttcracks when they bend over. The Bandit's true identity remains unknown.
History[]
Season 2[]
It is unknown exactly when the Ass Crack Bandit started. However, when Annie Edison was running for School President, one of her platforms was to bring the Ass Crack Bandit to justice. Although she dropped out of the race, she kept investigating.
Season 5[]
Annie had been investigating the bandit for years with little results. The bandit had stopped pranking for over a year. However, the Bandit returned and put a coin in Garrett's buttcrack.
This launched an investigation by the Dean and the Save Greendale committee. The Bandit sent the Dean a note, mocking him and the school. Annie and Jeff investigated the Bandit. Annie suspected the Bandit was a faculty member. The Bandit got many people, including Troy and Vicky.
Jeff determined that the Bandit was a fan of Dave Matthew's Band. They investigated faculty member's known to be fans, but ended up causing a lot of damage and were kicked off the case. However, a call led them to Alex "Starburns" Osbourne, who was previously thought to be dead. He confessed to being the Ass Crack Bandit. However, Jeff discovered that the Dean told Starburns to confess in exchange for dropping his Meth charges.
Annie suspected that Professor Ian Duncan was the Bandit. She went to tell Jeff, and Duncan followed her. Howevver, when he bent down to tie his shoelaces, The Bandit dropped a coin down his pants. When Jeff and Annie found out about Pierce's death, they stopped investigating.
The episode ended with a montage showing all of the possible suspects.

- The series finale implies that Annie may be the Ass Crack Bandit, with her awkwardly laughing when Jeff brings the subject up and a leaked script by Alex Reuben stating that she "was probably the ass crack bandit". Series creator Dan Harmon claimed that Annie was the Ass Crack Bandit in the 2020 Zoom reunion, although he referred to it as a pet theory with him speaking as a viewer.
- The youtube channel Film Theory made a video presenting evidence that Abed is the Ass Crack Bandit, pointing out Abed is the best athlete on campus and would be able to cover the Bandit's most daring spree without access to the teacher's lounge, is around the ACB's height, has a similar handwriting and is intelligent and eccentric enough to commit to the part for years.
- There is a theory that multiple people adopted the identity of the Ass Crack Bandit.
- Among the clues are athleticism and/or access to the teacher's lounge, knowledge of Dave Matthews songs and an interest or disdain of Jeff and Annie's close relationship.
