A malformed star born in the flightless void far away. Once destroyed an Eternal City and took away their sky. A falling star of ill omen.
~ The Remembrance of the Naturalborn.

Astel is a minor antagonist and boss in the 2022 video game Elden Ring. A malformed star that originated from a flightless void far away, it bears an insectoid appearance. As it wields gravitational magic, Astel is capable of launching gravity-based attacks.

Appearance[]

Astel has a vague insectoid body made of multi-colored orbs, which also formed a tail that is akin to that of a scorpion. Astel has translucent wings and six limbs with human-like hands. Astel's head is a humanoid skull with large mandibles and a large blue eye, which can be seen through a crack in front of Astel's head.

Biography[]

Astel was born from a far away flightless void, which consists of many-colored star debris. It was said to have violently attacked and destroyed an eternal city before taking away its sky.

Called Naturalborn of the Void, can be found in a cavern beyond the Lake of Rot in Ainsel River. Astel's location can be accessed via a coffin in the Grand Cloister. Astel is an optional boss as it is not required for the Tarnished to slay it to progress further in the storyline. Even though the malformed star can be slain in combat, Astel, now with the alias Stars of Darkness, can be rencountered in Yelough Anix Tunnel in the Consecrated Snowfield.

Powers & Abilities[]

Upon being first encountered by the Tarnished, Astel can perform a variety of gravity-based attacks and can warp away to other parts of the area as a way to change positions. When rencountered, it can now grab attack once its health reaches halfway. In addition, Astel can spawn copies of itself to grab the player.
