“ | Well, well. Look at them down there. Scurrying about their miserable, little lives. Never accomplishing anything of importance. Why are we forced to entertain the notion of interacting with these people every day? Ridiculous. They have no idea. | „ |
~ Athena Savalas in the "The Bank" trailer. |
Athena Savalas, also known as The CEO, is a minor antagonist in HITMAN 2, appearing as the target of its seventh mission "Golden Handshake".
She is a Herald for Providence, being the director of the New York branch of the bank corporation Milton-Fitzpatrick, which houses and protects all of Providence's assets.
Biography[]
Past[]
An heir to a logistics empire, Athena Savalas entered the male-dominated banking system fresh out of business school. She quickly learned that to succeed, she would need to transform herself entirely from the classic businesswoman she’d been bred to become.
As such, Savalas developed a harshness and cut-throat approach to her co-workers, which alienated her from personal relationships at the bank as well as in her private life, and later held a firm disdain towards the low and middle classes. After years of climbing towards the top, Savalas eventually became a callous and selfish control freak and elitist.
There were also rumors of her wanton gambling with client money and the bank’s finances. As a result, while the board of directors were looking for a new CEO of Milton-Fitzpatrick, Savalas is eagerly covering her tracks, using any means necessary.
HITMAN 2 (2018)[]
After Agent 47 assassinated Zoe and Sophia Washington, Lucas Grey managed to capture Arthur Edwards, the Constant, with 47's assistance. After realizing he was staged, the Constant decided to betray the Partners. He spilled about the Partners' details, and Diana discovered that they had faked their deaths and plan on resuming their lives under new identities. The Constant, seemingly unaware of this contingency plan, told 47 and Lucas to follow their bank accounts, which leads the two to the branch of Milton-Fitzpatrick's investment bank in New York.
To achieve this, 47 had managed to retrieve the data to Olivia, either through infiltrating the vault and retrieving a data core or retrieve three backup data disks carried by the bank's director, Athena Savalas, and her two subordinates: Head of accounts Fabian Mann, and head of security Mateo Perez. In addition, Savalas was a Providence Herald, and hence 47 had her eliminated to ensure that Providence isn't alerted to 47's mission.
Personality[]
Whilst originally being a kind and devoting woman in the past, Savalas has now developed into a selfish, mistreating and condescending narcissist. She has an ego the size of the clock she leans on in her office, being cruel to her employees to the point where they see that she is incredibly unpleasant to be around. She also looks down upon (in more ways than one) and despises her subordinates, as well as the low and middle classes in general.
Over the years, Savalas has also developed a refined, cold disdain for particularly the middle class, reducing customers to numbers on sheets of paper with no thought to the things she destroys with her constant “less is more” approach to small and medium-sized businesses.
Trivia[]
- Savalas bears an uncanny resemblance to Leona Helmsely, the Queen of Mean, particularly when it comes to her mistreatment of employees.
- According to a teller in the bank, Eugene Cobb named Savalas to be his successor for the position of CEO of Milton-Fitzpatrick. However, the unnamed new chairman of the board of directors (likely Mr. Fanin) blocked her promotion, decided that Savalas should stay to be the director for a few more years. However, a rumour said that the chairman was investigating Savalas' background to make sure she is fit to become the Milton-Fitzpatrick CEO.
- Savalas is one of the few targets to be fixed to a very small location for most of the level, the location being her office. The only way to move her out of it is to cause the stock market to crash, causing her to rush down to the stock room to see what's going on.
