Attila, also known as Attila the Hun, is a major antagonist in the 1990 film Lionheart. He is Lyon Gaultier's final and toughest opponent.
He was portrayed by Abdel Qissi.
Biography[]
Attila is a famous underground fighter who remained undefeated for years. His style of fighting includes toying with his opponents, giving them hope of winning and tiring them before brutally tearing them apart, crippling or even killing them. It is said that he killed eight fighters before.
He was arranged by Cynthia Caldera, an organizer of underground fights for the rich, to fight Lyon Gaultier/Lionheart, who fought for her and was also undefeated, but wasn't as experienced in underground fights as him. Cynthia, who lately was infuriated with Lyon for not being interested in her and hiding things from her (such as the fact that he was a deserter and was being chased by two French legionnaires), wanted to get rid of him and bet all of her fortune on Atilla's victory while also trying to confuse Lyon by showing him an altered video-tape of Attila fighting, which shows him as a bad fighter giving Lyon confidence.
The fight starts with Attila barely fighting back originally and Lyon seemingly having the upper hand. However, Attila notices Lyon's recent rib wound and takes advantage of it by striking in that spot and later forcing Lyon to defend his wound and thus leave his face unguarded, giving a chance for Attila to brutally beat him and knock him down twice. When it appeared that Attila had won, an angered Lyon, who just learned from his friend Joshua that he bet against him, got up and managed to brutally beat Attila with repeated kicks, knee blows and punches, defeating him. Lyon broke Attila's undefeated record but sparred his life, as the man walked away.
Personality[]
Attila is a cold and brutal fighter who is willing to cripple and kill his opponents if needed. However, he seems to have some fighting honor as well, as when he fought Lyon, despite noticing his wound and hitting it a few times, he refused to further strike him in that spot, and also never attacked Lyon when he was down, even offering him a chance to withdraw at one point. He is also shown to have a soft spot for cats, as he is always seen having a cat with him.
