Augustus Pacheco is the secondary antagonist in FPJ's Batang Quiapo Arc 1 and Arc 2.

He is a violent, power-hungry, corrupt regional director of NLEA-Metro Manila Police and a brutal crime boss. He is Primo "Supremo" Medina's archenemy. He is responsible for having his archenemy and love rival Primo arrested to win over their person of interest, Amanda.

Biography[]

He was once a high ranking official and leader of a crime syndicate group. One night he set up his former loyal henchman Primo to win over their love for Amanda in a botched burglary of a house belonging to Mayor Gonzalez, resulting in Primo's imprisonment. Twenty years later, Pacheco continued his duty as a cop giving him higher ranks in the organization and continued his shady deals in Quiapo with Amanda.

He then planned a goal to become the regional director by betraying his former alliance in their shady deals Red Phoenix having their leader Angkong arrested during a wedding. One day Primo, then challenged him for a gunfight which resulted Primo taking Amanda away from him as a resort to escape from Augustus’ men. The following day he had retaliated by infiltrating Primo’s hideout and retrieved Amanda back from Primo. From this point he became stricter in guarding Amanda. Later Amanda escaped with Primo in a transaction which made him more desperate to hunt down Primo which made him abduct Amanda’s family and killed her sister.

Upon hatching a plot to win Amanda back again, Amanda was forced to leave Primo again and saved her family from Augustus’ hands however Primo remained adamant, so they backed up Amanda to rescue her family and let her stay away from Augustus. However, their planned failed when his right-hand man Col. Suarez backed him up with policemen having Primo and his companions arrested. As Amanda learns about Primo’s presumed death she threatened him to shoot him, only that Augustus fires his gun first to Amanda and traps her in the hospital.

With Amanda’s disappearance, he constantly used all of his forces to manhunt them. Later on, Red Phoenix made partnership once again with him and tasked them to hunt Tanggol for stealing the Star of Venus. He cuts ties with the Red Phoenix and making connections with Divina Mondragon after Col. Suarez was defeated and had a bet with Tanggol during a gambling session learning that Tanggol has still the Star of Venus. Red Phoenix retaliated firing at him violently until he was saved by Tanggol and his friends in Divina’s hideout. He managed to retrieve Amanda once again after arresting her for raiding Tanggol’s casino with Primo killing his trusted men Col. Suarez. Upon capturing Amanda he unlawfully threatens her but Rigor intervenes making him insult Rigor as a useless cop. Rigor violently beats him after he offended the latter. Few days later after Rigor was seriously injured by Tanggol, he dismissed Rigor and humiliated him once again in retaliation.

He meets Divina and Tanggol once again to have a transaction with the Mamba Cartel only to trick everyone else causing them to have a bloody duel. On the same time Primo and his gang raided the area whom he also setup by keeping Amanda in the Mamba Cartel’s box causing them to brawl with Tanggol. In the midst of the brawl of Primo and Tanggol, he showed up his betrayal to the latter sending his men to fire Tanggol and Primo. He eliminates Primo and attempted to kill Tanggol but the former managed to fight him back with his final moments stabbing him to death.

Personality[]

He is shown to be very violent, ambitious, greedy, and tyrannical individual depicting that he is obsessed with wealth, power, and privilege. He also doesn’t show any mercy to his nemesis or sometimes betraying his loyal alliances just to win all over what he wants and power. Moreover, he uses his police force wiping out crimes all around Quiapo for power and fame instead for his principle as a police officer.

Ironically, he was a drug lord as well, despite being a General in the NLEA, having corrupted it from within, with his right-hand man, Col. Suarez.

However, Augustus was deeply obsessed with Amanda, and has constantly strived for her affection, despite the latter's obvious love for Primo. To this end, he has attempted to showcase her affection for her, which all ended in failure, and has arrogantly proclaimed to Amanda that her family has been living well because of him. As Amanda firmly upholds her love for Primo over her fear of Augustus, whenever he caught her, he has beaten her as a result and even hospitalized her after shooting her. Eventually this obsession was also dangerously violent, as he killed Amanda's sister, Cynthia, and threatened to kill her parents as well if Amanda didn't return to him.

Augustus has also proven to be failure-intolerant, angrily threatening and berating his henchman, Mulong, for failing to kill Primo in a prison bus ambush. In fact, his hatred of Primo was so great that he was willing to violate protocol to kill him and keep Amanda by his side, which often ended in failure.

Eventually, Augustus' villainous personality proved to be his ultimate downfall, as in his last confrontation with Primo and Amanda, he managed to kill both but was eventually killed by a mortally wounded Primo himself.
