Aura Maha Khyber is a secondary antagonist in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom.
Personality[]
Aura Maha Khyber is beginning to act like a little child queen, who is capable of commanding the adult mobile pilots who are a lot older than her. And that main reason is true. She is a highly skilled master manipulator.
Aura seemed to be a elegant leader who was humble to others while inviting Lacus and other Compass members to visit her country. She, however, seemed little to no care toward her people, as she never showed any remorse after nuking her own country. In a cutscene, Athrun also noticed those who had a lower social status were forced to be suicide bombers or got executed immediately if they dare to escape from the superficial utopia.
Being a darwinist, Aura held pride for fostering accords, also despising those who are "inferior", thinking only her children were eligible to rule the world. This, unfortunately, would shape all of them , with the only exceptation of Ingrid, into wrathful and arrogant darwinists lacking any touch of kindness. This was obvious while Orphee doubted Lacus's choice of falling in love with Kira , also reflected on Shura and Daniel's contempt toward Shinn ,as he was considered a lame pilot inferior than Athrun.
History[]
Back in C.E. 50, Aura was a genetist working at Genetic Research Institute at the Mendel colony with Ulen Hibiki and Gilbert Durandal. She and Ulen became bitter fierce rivals to see who would create a more advanced humans. Meanwhile, Durandal would introduce Aura to the Destiny Plan, which Aura become interested in and agree with. While Durandal work on the structure of Destiny Plan, Aura created the Accrods, the chosen people that would manage and lead other people in the Destiny Plan.
At the same time, Aura would also work on de-aging drugs to deal with PLANT’s low birth rate issue. However, she experienced an accident when she was directly exposed to the drugs in a terror attack orchestrated by Naturals, thus deaging her to a body of a little child. Due to her child like body, she would be look down on, thus twisting her to become a power hungry ruthless tyrant.
Eventually, she would create the Kingdom of Foundation with her fellow Accords, with ，Orphee Lam Tao becoming her chancellor. In the Kingdom of Foundation, Aura published the Destiny Plan where people would have to follow their job which is given to them since birth. While Kingdom of Foundation, under Aura rules prosper and even has advanced military technology, in to how fate were assigned since birth there has been protests, and the protesters were gunned down.
Eventually, Aura declared the Kingdom of Foundation as independent from the Eurasian Federation and being supported by ZAFT. At some point acquiring the information of Michael, the leader of the remnants of Blue Cosmos, she offered an alliance with Compass to defeat the terrorists with the conditions of allowing Foundation to join Compass.
To wipe out COMPASS, which might be a roadblock on her way to promote Destiny Plan, Aura overtook control over Fort Artemis and Requiem (which was repaired after the Second Bloody Valentine War). She made the accords to built an invincible force known as BKS (Black Knight Squad), armed with innovative mobile suits equipped with FT armor, making them immune to beam attacks. Troops of BKS were trained with datasets of the aces of COMPASS-especially Kira, Athrun and Shinn, allowing them to predict every single step of their moves. Aura also attempted to destroy the best mobile suit COMPASS now possesses - Strike Freedom GUNDAM, alleging the suit was heisted by lone wolves. Unbeknownest to her, although BKS surely destroyed Strike Freedom GUNDAM (along with the newly developed Zeus Silhouette backpack), Compass eventually repaired the suit, also sending Athrun and Meirin to investigate their true intentions as a response to their acts.
Inviting members of COMPASS to the capital of Foundation, Aura would introduce them to her kingdom and revealed how she has been enforcing Destiny Plan on her kingdom. She would also invite the COMPASS members to a party and discuss politics with its members.
The next day, Aura would sent the Black Knights to assist COMPASS in capturing Michael, however she and Orphee Lam Tao secretly had their own plan as she would have Griffin Arbalest to mind control Kira Yamato into attacking Eurasian Force and had Liu Shenqiang to launch Eurasian force’s nuclear missiles to her kingdom after taking over their vehicles. With that, Aura and Orphee escaped before the missile strikes along with the Black Knights, Agnes Giebenrath who defected from COMPASS and Lacus, who was captured. The capital would be destroyed by the missiles, thus Aura would be able to use it as an excuse to fire Requiem beam cannon towards Moscow, the capital of Eurasian Federation, completely obliterating it.
After framing COMPASS and Eurasian Federation of the war crimes, Aura declared her true intentions by forcing other countries to install Destiny Plan, holding those not cooperative with them at gunpoint with Requiem. She also urged Durandel's supporters in Z.A.F.T. to response her by launching a rebellion.
Upon knowing Kira, who had survived the attack with assistance from Athrun Zala, onboarded Millennium once again to launch counterattack, an enraged Aura commanded Requiem to be fired toward the ship (regardless of Orphee's protest, as the shot is aimed to sternalize its capital at first) , Millennium somehow managed to evade the deadly beam, thanks to the gobsmacking steering skills of steersman Arnold Neumann. No sooner she ordered Requiem to fire toward Orb Union again, only to be blocked by Akatsuki's armor. Before she could order another shot, Millennium rammed her ship (also the flagship of BKS) ,Gullveig, leaving her severely injured. Before her demise, Aura looked at the countdown screen of Requiem with a smile of triumph - not before Shinn destroyed Requiem with a direct hit toward it, avenging those civilans killed under her orders.

Trivia[]
- In the film, there are images of her seen with Lacus Clyne's Mother (Siegel Clyne's wife). The Clynes were Lacus's parents, however, Aura was the one who used their genetics to create Lacus.
