Personality[]
As Mr. Fyde, he seems to be very shy but with a short temper, especially shown in The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants. He is also sort of 'aware' that he acts as though he is crazy, even though it was all just because of the antics of fourth graders George Beard and Harold Hutchins.
However, when he is changed into Avacadwoe, his temper goes up 100%, and he is seen being violent while in this form.
Once he is turned into an avocado tree, he has shown to have lost his short temper and is at peace with the world now that everything is quiet.
Biography[]
In the books and movie[]
He used to work at the school as a science teacher but left in the books and movie. In both cases, Professor Poopypants becomes his replacement.
In the books, Mr. Fyde thought he is cracking up after "dreaming about" getting eaten by a talking toilet, thought he had heard cats and dogs in his classroom, had believed that the school got flooded with sticky green goop, and had thought he saw abominable snowmen going after George and Harold down the hallway (he was on bus duty while the others teachers went to the lounge). Mr. Krupp knew that the boys were responsible but then Mr. Fyde mentioned seeing Captain Underpants and Krupp, unaware of his hypnosis, believes that Fyde was right and accepts his resignation. After quitting, he goes to the Piqua Valley Home for The Reality Challenged, as revealed in The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants. He made a cameo in a later book when George and Harold traveled back in time. Additionally, at the beginning of Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Re-Turn of Tippy Tinkletrousers, Mr. Fyde was mentioned to have testified as a witness in the trial of George, Harold and Krupp for the crimes of their evil world counterparts.
In the movie, on the day before the science fair, Mr. Fyde told Mr. Krupp offscreen that he cannot make this Saturday, for he knows that he has plans to be with his family on Saturday. However, Krupp doesn't care, so he fires him. Aside from cameos before that, he not seen throughout the rest of the movie. Earlier, he was a victim of George and Harold's pranks where he pulled down a poster revealing his head on a little girl and a body builder.
In the TV Series[]
In “The Squishy Predicament of Stanley Peet's Stinky Pits”, for the first time in a long time, he has returned to Jerome Horwitz Elementary from the Piqua Home for the Reality Challenged. Even so, he still gets nervous around loud noises, which, unfortunately for Mr. Fyde, are the foundation of an elementary school. Mr. Krupp announces the commencement of the Avocad-grow contest (a hoax he set up to gain a massive supply of guacamole) the same day he returns.
During the contest, George and Harold use Melvin Sneedly’s invention on their avocado to turn into a tree, Mr. Fyde got in the way and they turn him into Avacadwoe. He then goes out into the town began destroying it, Captain Underpants try to stop him by plugging underwear into his ears, but that didn’t work. The boys and Captain Underpants lead him into a forest by making so much noise and make him fall into a hole and turn him into a tree, where he now lives peacefully as an amazing avocado tree in the forest, which is located near the school.
