Axel is a supporting antagonist in the video game Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories and Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten.
He was voiced by Grant George in English.

Axel was a popular demon who was known as the Dark Hero, however, after a controversy where he saved his kid brother, he lost all of his popularity and was forced to take minor jobs in order to support his family.
Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories[]
While in Veldime, Axel was filming a travel show when he was attacked by Adell when he was told that Axel was Overlord Zenon, after Axel was defeated, he was dragged off and declared dead by the media because the producer of Axel's show was afraid of Axel telling everyone that he was stealing money from the studio.
Axel would run into Adell again where he would learn from Rozalin that Overlord Zenon was on Veldime, with this info, he sent it out to the media, however, the fact that he was the one who got the information was hidden, much to his annoyance.
To get back at Adell for beating him, Axel "kidnapped" Adell's siblings, Taro and Hanako. After losing to Adell again, Taro accidentally fell into the river, something Axel feels incredibly bad for and he decides to go save him, taking a taxi to reach Taro before Adell can. Axel manages to find the magic flute that subdues the monsters and played it so Adell could beat them.
After this, Overlord Zenon sets up a tournament to defeat every challenger and to get back Rozalin. Axel is the host of this tournament who manages to confirm the existence of Overlord Zenon on footage and he has his death by Etna confirmed which launched him back into stardom.
Axel spent the rest of the game as the host of the News, the arrogance of his newfound popularity went to his head and he wouldn't snap out of it until his family talked to him. Axel then proceeded to storm Overlord Zenon's castle, holding back the powerful demons who wanted to be Overlord Zenon, letting Adell get through so he could finish off the Overlord.
Once Overlord Zenon had been killed, Axel lied to everyone, saying that Overlord Zenon was never there to begin with causing him to become even more popular after wasting literally everyone's time.
Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten[]
After getting imprisoned by the Netherworld Corrupterment for going to the human world, this lead to him becoming a prisoner of Hades, however, he managed to work his way up into becoming the Warden of the Prison.
When Valvatorez started his mission to save the Prinnies, Axel fought back against him, however, the Corrupterment were tricked into thinking Axel was on Valvatorez's team and he was almost killed.
Axel seemingly survived and went on to fight alongside the Corrupterment President's son Emizel and would later free Desco who almost killed Axel.
Axel would team up with the Corrupterment again and would be the basis of the A-Virus, a virus that would turn everyone into Axel which would turn everyone into stupid suckups like Axel, however, Artina's angel blood managed to cure everyone.
Once Valvatorez beats the President and gets the title of Netherworld President, however, he needed someone else to be the President since he was going to be busy fighting against Judge Nemo, Axel showed up out of nowhere and took the position for himself.
