Axel Palmer is the main antagonist of the original 1981 slasher film My Bloody Valentine. He was a miner for the Hanniger Mining Company, until one year past trauma causes him to go on a killing spree dressed like the town's legendary murderer.
He was portrayed by Neil Affleck. As a child, he was portrayed by Jeff Banks. In-costume scenes as The Miner were portrayed by Peter Cowper.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Axel was born in Valentine Bluffs, a town located somewhere on the east coast. His father worked as a supervisor for the Hanniger Mining Company. One Valentine's Day Mr. Palmer made a mistake along with another unnamed supervisor by forgetting to check the methane gas levels in the mine. Five miners were trapped when the mine caved in due to an explosion. When the rescue team finally dug through the rubble, they found that one of the miners had eaten the other four. One year, after being placed in a mental asylum, that same miner came back on Valentine's Day and killed the two supervisors. Axel witnessed his father's death from underneath the bed and even got covered in blood. This event would go on to traumatize poor Axel for years to come. Luckily for him, after the miner had left a warning at the Union Hall dance, the town decided to never hold a dance again.
My Bloody Valentine (1981)[]
Axel, now all grown up and an experienced miner for the Hanniger Mining Company takes a female miner into the abandoned part of the mines to have intercourse, but ends up killing her. Afterwards, he cuts the heart out of her and sends it anonymously to the police station, along with a warning note.
My Bloody Valentine (2009)[]
Portrayed by Kerr Smith, instead of being the killer, Axel is actually one of the heroes of the movie. Though, it's a remake, so 2009 and 1981 Axel are not the same.

- 10: Patty - Stabbed in the stomach with a pickaxe.
