Azami Kurotani is a major antagonist in the Junji Ito manga Uzumaki, serving as the main antagonist of its third chapter, The Scar.
Azami was a high school student from Midoriyama-Shi who went to the same high school as Kirie Goshima, the manga's main protagonist. She was very popular with all of the male students of the high school due to her beauty, which had caused the female students to get jealous at her. Eventually, a rumor regarding a scar on her forehead started to spread by these girls, stating that it has the innate ability to attract boys.
She was voiced by Mariya Ise in Japanese and Cristina Vee in English.

Backstory[]
During childhood, Azami had an accident at a playground, where she walked on the ropes to impress a boy she liked. As a result of falling, Azami fell on her face, and started bleeding from her forehead. Overtime, the wound would become a crescent-shaped scar. Azami's claims about her scar seems to align with the rumors, as she had also noticed that after that incident, every boy had wanted to be around her.
From the day she started attending high school, Azami was popular with the guys, even getting catcalled on occasion on the street, though Azami refuses to acknowledge this when it is brought up. In the meantime, her popularity had caused other girls to become jealous of her, and a rumor that the scar on her forehead has the power to seduce boys had begun to spread around the school.

Azami is a "pretty girl" (As described by Kirie), with bob-cut black hair that has thick fringes which reaches her eyebrows. She is often seen wearing red lipstick, and is shown to be shorter than Kirie.
Her most notable feature is a crescent-shaped scar found on her forehead, which she always hides behind her bangs out of embarrassment for it.
Personality[]
Azami is introduced as being a sweet-natured and cheerful girl who is subject to various rumors amongst the other students, which portray her as flirtatious with the boys, though Azami often dispels these rumors by addressing them to Kirie, which only makes her less convinced.
Azami is excitable, enthusiastic, and flirtatious, but is always annoyed by the interest she receives from boys her age, and shows no affection back towards them, likely as a result of the abuse she endures with each boy she hooks up with.
When she is affected by The Spiral's curse, Azami suddenly takes interest in Shuichi Saito, who was repulsed by her connections with the Spiral.
