NOTE: This article is about the incarnation of Azazel from the X-Men film series. The mainstream version can be found here: Azazel (Marvel).

Azazel is a supporting antagonist of X-Men: First Class. He is a member of the Hellfire Club and has the power of teleportation.

History

X-Men: First Class

Azazel served Sebastian Shaw in the Hellfire Club. He killed The Man in Black and many other CIA agents with Riptide and Shaw during their assault on the Division X facility. They attempted to recruit the newly-formed X-Men into the Hellfire Club, and was able to bring one of them to their side: Angel Salvadore. His hijacking of a Soviet freighter during the Cuban Missile Crisis nearly led to an all-out nuclear war. After Shaw died, Azazel and the rest of the Hellfire Club joined the Brotherhood of Mutants, under the leadership of Magneto.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

In the film, according to Magneto, Azazel and a group of other mutants were killed while being experimented on by Bolivar Trask. This event is what led an angry Mystique to plot to kill Trask, though Xavier soon learns that doing so would only lead the creation of the Sentinels, which would later destroy both mutantkind and mankind in the future. Fortunately, Xavier managed to send Wolverine back in time to convince Mystique out of her vendetta, allowing the authorities to arrest Trask for selling military secret to foreign countries.
