Aziz Rahim is a minor antagonist in the 2023 action-adventure film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the fifth and final installment of the Indiana Jones film series.

He is a Moroccan mobster who used to be in a relationship with Helena Shaw, daughter of the late Oxford University professor Basil Shaw. In 1969, Rahim comes across Helena again, this time set on getting his revenge for how she dumped him, just as Shaw gets into trouble with Jürgen Voller and his Neo-Nazis.

He was portrayed by Alaa Safi, who also played the Tall Zealot in Doctor Strange.

History

Past

Aziz Rahim was born as the son of Big Rahim, a renowned Moroccan crime lord from Tangiers who owned Hotel L'Atlantique. Growing up, Aziz met Helena Shaw, the daughter of the late Oxford University professor Basil Shaw, and the two fell in love. Eventually, Aziz and Helena agreed to marry, but for unknown reasons, Helena dumped and ran out of Aziz before their wedding. Incapable of tolerating such humiliation, Aziz longed for vengeance.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

In 1969, Aziz Rahim meets with Helena Shaw again during her failed auction for the Antikythera Mechanism's first half, which is held on Hotel L'Atlantique before Indiana Jones and Dr. Jürgen Voller disrupt the event due to wishing to claim the dangerous artifact. Alerted by his father to go to his business to deal with the resulting disturbance, Aziz finds Helena and announces his intentions to get back at her, especially upon learning that Helena sold the wedding ring he gave to her.

This leads Helena to board a Tuk-tuk driven by her teen sidekick Teddy Kumar so they can both escape from Aziz and his men and retrieve the Antikythera Mechanism from Voller and his Neo-Nazis, all while pursued by Jones in another Tuk-tuk. The chase goes through most of Tangiers' streets, with Aziz trying to use his own machete to kill Helena and her companions, but always fialing, with most of his men being neutralized during the chase.

Thanks to Indy, Helena and Teddy are ultimately able to escape from Rahim and his men, while Voller and his cohorts are temporarily taken into custody by Agent Mason and her CIA agents. It's unknown what happened to Aziz and his henchmen afterwards, but they possibly gave up and left Indy and his party alone.
