Azrael, (ʿǍzarʾēl, or ʿAzrāʾīl), also known as Malʾak al-Mawt (Angel of Death) and usually mistaken and seen as The Grim Reaper is a major figure in Islam, Judaism and Early/Paleo-Christianity. He is the Angel of Death and responsible for taking the souls of the deceased away from the body.
