Azukiarai is an minor antagonist of the Super Sentai series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger. He's a trash can Youkai with a lizard who can disguise himself as a policeman. He debuted in Episode 3: American Ninja as a minor antagonist and serving as the main antagonist of Episode 4: The Youkai Policeman.
He's voiced and portrayed by the late Go Awazu.
Biography[]
American Ninja[]
As Oboroguruma and Jiraiya were eating oden at a stand, Azukiarai was mentioned by Oboroguruma after he wanted Jiraiya to introduce him, and was told that he doesn't see many people.
After Jiraiya escapes the dungeon filled with traps at the Youkai club and arriving at the Resident Police Station, Azukiarai imprisons him and introduces to himself, saying that he's waiting for him and he knew that he came from America looking for him and he heard it from the Youkai from America under the Youkai network. He told Jiraiya that he stole all four scrolls and hid them four hundred years ago and the Jiraiya family looked all over the world looking for them and he tells Jiraiya that he finally found out that he has them. After Jiraiya asks Azukiarai to give him the scrolls, he transports him to a mountain with a pit of fire next to it. He gave Jiraiya the location of where the scrolls are and pushes Jiraiya down to the burning pit and got away but Jiraiya manages to save himself when he used a grappling hook on a rock.
At the end of the Episode, Azukiarai was seen walking in downtown. He ran into a nearby trash bin and hides into his true form.
The Youkai Policeman[]
As Saizou and Seikai were eating curry at the diner, Azukiarai was taking a peek at Saizou and Seikai, vowing revenge towards them that they will pay for them for taking their scrolls back.
When Saizou and Seikai were walking down the street when Seikai noticed a girl being cute and grabbing her. Azukiarai, being a police officer approaches Seikai for crossing the street on yellow being not good and talking about crossing on red being a no-no. He thinks that people like Seikai will be a society going on a downhill, he accuses Seikai for jaywalking and tries to take him to custody but was interfered by Saizou and told him to stop and told him about why's he's interrupting an arrest. Saizou tries to explain and Azukiarai tried to arrest Saizou for interfering with a police officer. The other policeman arrived who turned out to be youkais. As Saizou and Seikai tries to escape from the Youkai policemen, Azukiarai commanded the officers to go after them. After Saizou accidentally knocked a crate down, Seikai accidentally bumping into a little boy and the duo escaping a home, interrupting a family's dinner, Azukiarai gave Seikai and Saizou the following charges: Destroying personal property, Assaulting a minor and Illegal trespassing. The chase ends when they surrounded Seikai and Saizou behind a brick wall. After Saizou got over the brick wall, Azukiarai and his fellow youkai policeman finally captured Seikai for the following charges he got while attempting to escape and took him to custody.
Moments later at the jail section at the police station, Azukiarai tells Seikai to wake up and interviewed him about the charges he received. He made Seikai suited the death penalty. When Seikai never heard such of a law like that, Azukiarai told Seikai that he's the law of this town not him nor his fellow Kakurangers, saying that he controls it and threatens Seikai with a gun. As Seikai was yelling at his fellow Kakurangers for help, Azukiarai takes him to his jail cell at the police station and evil laughs at them and closes the window.
After the Kakurangers broke into the police station, looking for Seikai, Azukiarai ambushes the Kakurangers right in front of them. He told them that they stole the scrolls, tells that they will pay for it. He calls the Dorodoros to attack the Kakurangers and while they were fighting the Dorodoros, Azukiarai traps Saizou, Jiraiya and Tsuruhime into his trash bin and put the trash bin onto the trunk of his police car and drove away.
After Azukiarai bought Seikai, Saizou, Jiraiya and Tsuruhime at the Youkai club, he told his fellow youkai that tonight is gonna be a big party because after the Seal door was opened, they regained their power and told them that he finally captures his fellow Kakurangers except Sasuke. He told them that they will party really hard. After Sasuke broke in the Youkai club while disguised as a Youkai, Azukiarai smelled a human being around the party. He told Sasuke that he never seen a Youkai like him before. Sasuke tricked Azukiarai by giving him his fake identity as Sarutonbo and born in Hawaii. When Azukiarai never heard that type of Youkai, he tries to attack Sasuke but he knocked him out and alarmed his remaining Youkai. After Sasuke freed the rest of the Kakurangers, he told Azukiarai that he's done. He thinks that he's are all that and that'll be his last word. After the Dorodoros bought Shigeru's father who's the chief of the police department, Azukiarai told the Kakurangers that if they need to save his life, they need to listen to him. When Tsuruhime calls Azukiarai a coward, he can't help him and asked of what they will do next. After Shigeru arrives to find his dad who's been captured, he knocks Azukiarai and his Dorodoros down to the ground. After the Kakurangers morphed, Sasuke told Azukiarai that police should be loved by everyone not him and he's gonna pay for ruining it, and Azukiarai told his Dorodoros to attack the Kakurangers.
After the Kakurangers defeated the Dorodoros, Azakiarai duels Sasuke when he used his cloning technique. He tries to run away outside but the Kakurangers surrounded Azukiarai and Tsuruhime tells that the Youkai won't get away this time. Azukiarai refused, so he transforms into a Blue Jay to fly away but was stopped by Sasuke when he turns into a Ninpo by shooting missiles at him and he summons a bike to ride away but was stopped by Saizou when he turns into a dump truck. He then shapeshifts into a Azuki Ball but was stopped by Jiraiya and Seikai by playing baseball and slamming him into a metal wall.
Azukiarai had enough, so he then grows big by using his Yo Power. After the Kakurangers summoned their Giant General Beasts, he used his trash can to shrink the Kakurangers again and put them into his trash can. He's finally happy that he's finally did it and summons his Ninpo Boiler Boiler and tries to burn them alive. While the Kakurangers were trapped in the burning trash can, they escaped with their Hidden Style Big Bang and knocking Azukiarai down to the ground. After the Kakurangers combined their General Beasts into Muteki Shogun, Azukiarai tries to destroy Muteki Shogun, but it was stopped when his sword was grabbed and swiped. He was punched multiple times and was knocked out. While Azukiarai was charging at the Muteki Shogun, he was finally finished off when the Muteki Shogun used their Flaming Shogun Sword.
They Came Forth!! New Beast Generals[]
Azukiarai and the other five youkais that the Kakurangers defeated came back as a replica made by Professor Yugami made out of kidnapped children and now equipped with a blaster. He duels Seikai and blasts him with his blaster and as Seikai was shooting him with his KakuBlaster, he knocks him out with his blaster. Throughout the battle, he was turned into a giant again by Tengu's gigantism. When the Kakurangers used their Giant General Beasts to fight the remaining youkai replicas and when Tengu made the fight stopped or else the kids will die. It was revealed that the Azukiarai replica was Masao being trapped within the replica. Azukiarai and the other youkai replicas attacks the General Beasts with their newly equipped powers and defeats them. When the injured Kakurangers summons their Hidden Style General Beasts Warriors via throwing the medals from their Doron Changers and turning them into another General Beasts warriors, Azukiarai and the other Youkai replicas had another battle with the Kakurangers and their Replica General Beasts warriors and after the Muteki Shogun was formed and finishing Tengu off, Azukiarai and the other Youkai replica vanished and the kidnapped children are now free.
