The BX9 are a major antagonistic faction in the TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. They are a gang ran in the Bronx who take inspiration from the Bx6 bus line.
History[]
The BX9 gang was a Dominican street gang created by Carlos Hernandez. Their crimes ranged from sodomizing men, robbery, and even murder. in 2012, Alejandro Pavel, Ken Randall's fiancé, was kidnapped and raped with a baseball bat. Rick Simms was also accused of molesting Ray Gabardelli's son, and thus, he was brutally raped after BX9 was paid off. At that time, Carlos Hernandez became Marisol Pavel's boyfriend after her ex-boyfriend Cesar revealed who had committed the crimes. To stop him from testifying, he lured and executed fellow member Jesus Montero in front of several members and forced them to lie about Jesus being murdered by the rival Del Toros. Carlos recruited Jesus' brother, Manny, and had gang members rob and assault his mother until he joined. As an initiation, he made him rob the pharmacy he worked at for some Oxycodone, instead, Manny was tricked into only taking aspirin.
Betrayal's Climax[]
The BX9 once again shows up after a gang-rape against 16-year-old Avery Capshaw because her boyfriend Manny botched a robbery. All the participants are arrested for the assault, but one of the detainees (Manny Montero) is innocent. SVU tries to prosecute all of them but the situation around what happened is too ambiguous to count as rape. Carlos later leads a vicious beating on Avery and her parents John and Lydia Capshaw that hospitalizes all of them. SVU eventually receives evidence proving Carlos killed Jesus to shut him up because his fellow gang members betrayed him. After hearing about this, he has Manny Montero hanged in his prison cell and his tongue removed post-mortem. Hernandez confesses to Avery that he did indeed order the hit of Manny, so he is officially arrested, but not before he threatens Olivia Benson's life.
Beast's Obsession[]
Hernandez is seen sharing a cell with psychopathic criminal William Lewis. Odafin Tutuola then questions if he helped Lewis, but he denies any involvement.
Even after his arrest, the BX9 is just as successful with rackets in prostitution and intimidation. Later, Felipe Heredio, a former lieutenant, threatens ADA Rafael Barba under the orders of corrupt prison official Gary Munson, resulting in Dodd's death and Felipe being arrested.
Under Oscar Papa's leadership[]
Years later, Oscar Papa, the new leader, turned the BX9 into a formidable street gang, to a massive crime organization with hundreds of members running several rackets, which include rape, prositution, and drugs. While under the direction of Papa, Oscar has members go up to boys as young as 13 and ask if they want to be recruited. When they dont accept the offer, Papa has the mothers and daughers raped, taking their underwear to leave on a rape tree.
