Bacillus Cereus is a minor antagonist of the anime and manga series Cells at Work! He is classified as a soil type bacteria that comes from various natural environments like dirt and water. Once infiltrated into the human body, he is able to cause diarrhea and vomiting to its victim’s body. He serves as the antagonist in the eleventh episode of the anime series where he also makes his first appearance.
He is voiced by Kohsuke Toriumi in Japanese and by Joe Zieja in English..
Appearance[]
The bacteria appears with eight tentacles. Aside from his face which is rather a grey color, his body is entirely covered with silver-colored armor and has golden-colored eyes. Four of his tentacles are located on his upper body (two on his back and two on the side) and four more on his lower body that serves as his legs.
Personality[]
The Bacillus Cereus bacteria has a sadistic and playful manner while dealing with the white blood cell U-1146 whom he constantly tricked him along with the others of his type.
Biography[]
After the impactful trembling that happened inside the human body due receiving a heat stroke. Which caused all the cells to collide against each other, Bacillus Cereus’ sadistic laugh is heard and his silhouette appears in an exit that is led to outside. The bacteria flies down in front of the crowd of cells and declares them to let him help them. He notices a white blood cell U-1146 among the red blood cells. U-1146 suggests the bacteria to flee since he is here to which Bacillus Cereus declines and instead suggests to have fight him. But, he instead tricks him and flies pass him while continue maniacally laughing. He flies across the crowded red blood cells who are walking through the tunnel. U-1146 jumps onto a nearby tubes beside the crowd and tries to attack him but fails to hit the bacteria who flies away. The bacteria arrives at wider area where he comes across another white blood cell but dodges him than U-1146. Afterwards, he hides in the crowd of cells who are looking for him but fails to find him.

The bacteria flees by fleeing behind a wall. U-1146 goes onto a higher view to look for him and is found behind him. Bacillus Cereus dodges once again the white blood cell’s strike before flying across the crowd of cells and entering another room with U-1146 following behind but struggles while trying to pass through the red blood cells who were walking to the opposite direction. Bacillus Cereus waits for him at the entrance and witnesses him in the process of passing out because of the high temperature of the place. He fell onto the floor after having been bumped by a red blood cell who was passing by. As U-1146 continues to struggle with the heat stroke of the place, the virus prevents him from getting back to his feet by hitting his leg while enjoying his struggles. He then grabs the last remaining buckwheat tea that the red blood cells had and spits the liquid on the floor for everyone to watch after congratulating him for still keeping his hat on him.

They are later on seen fighting on the outside, where U-1146 is pushed near a cliff while repeatedly getting slash by the bacteria’s tentacles. The bacteria then grabs the white blood cells while enjoying the view of chaos that is spread across the body before dropping him off the cliff. He is however surprised to see that the cell managed to stick against the wall of the cliff with his knives to climb back up to continue fighting the bacteria. Bacillus Cereus continues to unleash his tentacles on the cell to take away his strength to climb while encouraging him to give up on saving the body. Eventually, U-1146 loses his strength after receiving the pain inflicted, he is falling down to the city. Seeing that he has finally get rid of what bothers him, he sadistically laughs as he sees the current state of body and states that he plans on making the body his nation. A light however emerges out of the clouds from the sky.
Every cell, including the bacteria, is confused to see a metal tube appearing out of the cloud that began to drop water out. Seeing that his plan is falling apart, he flies across to see all the cells enjoying the water that has been injected to the body. He is disappointed to see that the body has been recovered thanks to the needle. While standing in disappointment, one of his tentacles is seized by U-1146 who had found him. He turns around to see the white blood cell standing menacingly before getting killed by him. His scream is heard from far away by the red blood cells, while having his blood getting spread out, as he meets his demise.
