Backdard is a bag-themed youkai and the main antagonist of episode 10 of Choujin Bibyun.
He is voiced by Kazuya Tatekabe, who also voiced Dennetsuman in Robot Detective.
Biography[]
In the guise of an old man, Backdard posed as a street merchant selling handbags. When a young woman named Akemi and her friend took interest in his bags, Backdard offered to give a particular one to her free of charge. Once Akemi was alone however, Backdard emerged from the bag and hypnotized her to do his bidding. Backdard would have her lure her friend out so he could devour her, but the Choujins caught on to what he was doing and went to stop him. Backdard summoned a group of Yoki to back him up in fighting the Choujins, but was beaten back by them. After having his arm chopped off by Bibyun, Backdard teleported away from the scene.
Backdard would later don his old man disguise again to get close to the Choujins' ally, police detective Lisa Akechi. Pretending to be injured, Backdard got Lisa to bring him into her house so he could rest in her bed, before disappearing and leaving behind a bag which he used to hypnotize Lisa. However, Zusheen had suspected something was amiss and hid under the bed. He attempted to stop Backdard, but Backdard made the hypnotized Lisa attack him. He was later confronted outside by Bibyun and Bashaan. He summoned a horde of Yoki to fight them, but the two Choujins fought their way through them to battle him personally. Backdard was defeated by Bibyun with his Sky Sword Attack, leaving behind nothing but a piece of his bag which Bibyun promptly disposed of.
