Baekho is the main antagonist of the South Korean supernatural mystery webcomic Rotten, written by GOOD GUY on Webtoons.
He’s the mastermind behind the disappearances in Seoul and the boss of The Butcher, who is revealed to be a serial killing snuff filming who is obsessed with finding the perfect soul during death. He’s the personal arch enemy of Officer Han.
Personality[]
Baekho exhibits a calm, collected, charismatic and good natured personality to others, either as part of a disguise or to his loyal right hand, the Butcher. He shows a mild mannered appearance and can compliment others while showing some meek intuition whenever the situation warrants it. However, this thinly veiled mask hides a deranged sadist who enjoys others suffering inflicted by him. Baekho is obsessed with finding the perfect soul as it dies, and treats each torture session like a personal hobby with intricacies.
Baekho enjoys taunting and using other!s traumatic past against then, using a tape of Yuhyeon’s sister being killed to mess with and break Yuhyeon as well as knocking out the Butcher so he could relive his traumatic childhood in his dreams as a “punishment.”
When things get bad for him, Baekho become extremely unstable and ends up revealing himself as a coward who doesn’t want to fight others stronger than him, and when backed into the corner, is willing to die so he could not go to prison.
Biography[]
Baekho was born with the ability to see into the souls of people and animals, and he spent his childhood murdering small animals to distract himself from his abusive mom. One day as a teenager, he walks to the school during a rainy day, where he sees Tahyeon Han‘ grandmother, having fallen at the bottom of the stairs due to the rain. Instead of helping her, Baekho became fascinated seeing her dying soul, remarking it as particularly beautiful.
Stealing the grandmother’s umbrella, he is confronted at the top of the stairs by a young Tahyeon Han, who he proceeds to threaten to go away as Tahyeon flees, dooming his grandmother. The day after, Tahyeon murdered his mother, and was able to get away with it as he was moved to the countryside to live with extended family members. However, he still enjoyed hurting and watching the souls of those dying, murdering multiple kids as he made their corpses disappear for years, leading to a decade of disappearances within South Korea.
