~ Baku on his loyalty to Kuromi |
Baku is a supporting antagonist in Sanrio, notably known for being introduced in the anime Onegai My Melody as Kuromi's crime partner. He was the secondary antagonist in Onegai My Melody and was portrayed as a supporting anti-hero in later media. He is voiced by Noboru Maeda in Japanese, and Vinay Murthy in English.
His loyalty to Kuromi alone places him on this wiki. as without it, he is a very stand up and decent person.
Biography[]
Baku was initially introduced as Kuromi's main partner, having escaped with her from prison, helping her steal the Melody Key and Melody Bow and escaped towards Earth in order to help Kuromi in her goal of collecting 100 black notes with him swallowing every collected one. Shortly after arriving on Earth, he and Kuromi form an alliance with Keiichi Hiiragi, who takes possession of the Melody Bow and lets them reside in his mansion, acting as a leader for the two.
Baku was born the oldest in a poor family with many children, his full name is Bakuichirou. Named after a person his mother knew when studying aboard the human world. His parents were often out working. So he took responsibility of looking after them whenever they weren't around, giving him great skills in handling children. But one day, Baku went alone to the beach after having his father get mad at him to cry, when he met Kuromi for the first time as she was yelling over My Melody. She taught Baku her venting methods. And ever since then, Baku made a vow to remain loyal to Kuromi no matter what. His exposure to her good side is what always keeps him patient and put up with her constant abuse and aggression, which is also why he frequently aids in antagonizing My Melody and her human friends despite not really hating them and even delivering them their newspapers. (He saved Koto, Uta's older sister from a shark attack once, and refused to hit her even when Dar-chan forced him under his servitude.) He also gave out piggyback rides for the kids at a local kindergarten for a teacher he had a crush on, helped the elderly cross the streets, and played tic tac with strangers whenever he had free time. (Usually when Kuromi was passed out.)
He remains largely the same in Kuromi's Pretty Journey, but he obtains a new job fueling Kuromi's base through a treadmill. And becomes the caretaker of Koni, an alien infant searching for his real parents who met Kuromi at a dating show.
