The story of creepy disciplinarian head teacher, Professor Baldi Baldimore, from the titular Baldi's Basics series.

NOTE: Everything detailed is in chronological order, not release order. However, due to Mystman12's somewhat unclear story, much of this is based on speculation combined with known facts about Baldi's experiences and everything else.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Gimme more cookies.
~ Baldi in the first teaser of the comic strip Baldimore as a representation of Baldi Cookie.

Baldi's actions largely follow the original three comic strips like his original counterpart. Baldi Baldimore was born on June 3rd, 1970, and lives with his unnamed parents in Baltimore, Maryland, United States.

In the 1980s, Baldi talks about himself and explains the four words that combine to make his last name "Baldimore". He then states that the third panel is funny, before he eventually scratches his head as he feels unaware of his plagiarism. In the fourth panel, two characters are shown about to fight. One punches the other character who begins to deflate like a balloon. This is revealed in the comic strip that Baldi drew. He laughs at his own humor that he wrote in his comic. Finally, he states that most people say his sense of humor is too sensitive. The next day, Baldi visits a Baltimore doctor's office to have his reflexes tested. He is to meet the owner of the office, Dr. Reflex. During the consultation, the doctor performs a reflex test on Baldi's knee which instead causes him to suddenly kick the doctor's balls. After taking his reflexes, Baldi claims that there is nothing to eat, then breaks the fourth wall by staring at his speech bubble before grabbing and eating some of the letters he grabbed.

A few months/years ago, Baldi would break the fourth wall by telling the reader about a mailbox and how he opened it, using his teeth. After finishing his story, he utters his first word; "Gimme more cookies". He then becomes angry because he did not get enough cookies. The next day, Baldi talks about how he thinks hair is unnecessary and unnatural, and goes on a rampage by setting people's hair on fire. The next day, because of his bad behavior towards people yesterday, he plans to become the superhero Baldiman to atone for his sins. Baldi approaches a young boy and tells him that he can invent anything, and the boy asks him if he can invent a toenail clipper. Baldi then shows off his invention, which the boy describes as a bat with a rusty blade glued to it. After Baldi said that the tool would cut off his toes, the boy ran away because he heard that.

Retired[]

One year in 1990 after helping and saving everyone, Baldi finally retired from being a superhero because his environment was safe and peaceful, and no one was attacking the earth anymore. He lived his life as an ordinary human and continued his work as an inventor, who later became popular for creating unique items and objects.

At one point, he met an unnamed woman (heavily implied to be Susan), who might later become his girlfriend and have a relationship with each other, and they worked together to create some items and objects so that their inventions would attract the attention of others. Baldi then made a notebook containing a math guide and all school grades - preschool to college - however, he made the guide with his glitch ability and distorted some of his writing in his fifteen notebooks. At an unknown time, his girlfriend had to separate from his life. It is implied that she (referring to Baldi's girlfriend) works in a different area from Baldi.

At some unknown point before 1999 (possibly sometime between 1993-1995), he met an unnamed man, who would later be given the title of Principal of the Thing, and they became partners together, opening two elementary schools named the Schoolhouse and the Super Schoolhouse, as the original owner and founder of Baldi himself. He and the Principal added several of their staff to the roster of the school one by one - Gotta Sweep, Mrs. Pomp, and Dr. Reflex. In 1998, Baldi began to register several children who entered the school building one by one. At some unknown point in time, Baldi built his own underground facility beneath the property and stored fifteen of his guidebooks in the library room, as well as several entities resembling him on the second floor of the original Schoolhouse.

Introduction[]

In 1999, Baldi then introduced himself to his students as the head teacher and math teacher, and taught them about math. However, he taught his students with his distorted voice ability which made his students feel confused about what their teacher was talking about. If they did not answer correctly, Baldi would slap his students hard which made his students feel scared by seeing their teacher's behavior. On an unknown day, he met an unnamed student who introduced his experience that he liked to explore all environments since he was a child or preschooler and he was also very good at math. Baldi heard that and was praised for the introduction. He really cared about one of the students and whatever he helped with his one student.

When the school was closed, a friend of the Explorer Student accidentally left his seven notebooks, and he couldn't bring them because he was busy with "eating practice", so he asked for help from the Explorer Student to get them back. Hearing this, Baldi then made a plan to insert the You Can Think Pad into seven notebooks belonging to his friends from the Explorer Students because one of his students liked to explore any environment.

Baldi in Classic.

At the beginning of the game, Baldi greets the Explorer Student with a wave and welcomes him to school. He then lets the student find his friend's first notebook and has him solve three math problems using the You Can Think Pad in the first class. After the student answers all three questions correctly, Baldi will reward the Explorer Student with a Quarter that can be used later on his journey. The notebook will be taken, but Baldi will become angry and try to punish the Explorer Student for answering incorrectly by chasing him throughout the school to hit him with a yardstick and presumably turn him into an object. Hearing this, the Explorer Student must answer all the questions and try to get his friend's notebook back, while avoiding being chased by his teacher Baldi, in order to escape the school.

After collecting all seven notebooks, Baldi will congratulate the Explorer Student, then scream and threaten him to get out while he still can. He becomes extremely fast, and will constantly be near him. During this time, the exit will constantly appear and disappear in different areas around the school, making escape difficult. Once the Explorer Student successfully finds the exit, he will escape from Baldi and everyone else in the school and return his friend's notebook. However, as he leaves he suddenly hears a mysterious voice that will congratulate him, but he tells him to do worse because he needs something the next day. The Explorer Student listens and will return to his teacher Baldi's school the next day.

The next day, after answering every math question wrong in all seven notebooks and completing the game, once the Explorer Student reaches the final exit, he is transported to a short hallway his teacher Baldi's office, who tells him to go to the office for repairs. Instead of meeting his teacher Baldi and entering the office, he is instead met by the Entity who is seen standing behind a desk with a banana to his right floating above it, accompanied by Baldi with his sprite distorted and stretched; as it is suspected that the Entity stole the true power of the head teacher of the Schoolhouse.

Beginning[]

BBP1

Baldi in Plus.

A few days/months ago in the same year when Explorer Student arrives at the first floor of the school, Baldi happily greets and welcomes him to his super version of the school while inviting his student (one) to play hide and seek. If the player moves at least two spaces from the initial elevator area, Baldi will close his eyes and begin counting down from ten. During the countdown, there is a slight chance that he will open his right eye and peek at Explorer Student. After the countdown is over, Baldi will smile briefly before grabbing his ruler and chasing after his student. Oddly enough, he will become angry for some unknown reason, indicating that he has been hurt by the Entity. Seeing this, Explorer Student must evade his teacher's pursuit again and collect the notebooks found in various classrooms.

During this time, Baldi suddenly appears on TV and informs his students and staff about the event, after which one event begins and this event will only occur after a random amount of time has passed. After four notebooks are collected, Baldi will congratulate Explorer Student on finding all four notebooks, then tell him to find a way out before he gets caught. There are five floors in this school, where Explorer Student must also collect all the notebooks scattered around the classrooms, so that he can reach the last floor.

The Field Trip[]

Let's go camping!
PlusEarlyAccess3

Baldi in outdoor area, alongside his bus.

If the player picks up an item called the Bus Pass and after passing through the second floor, as soon as they exit the Pit Stop area, Baldi suddenly appears, in camping clothes, in front of the Explorer Student and visits him to go camping together. After arriving at the campsite, Baldi will introduce the environment to his student and can be visited if the Explorer Student want something. Baldi will be in both minigames with different roles.

  • In Campfire Frenzy, Baldi stands to the right of his tent and acts as how much campfire material the player puts in. If the player manages to keep the fire burning after seventy throws, they complete the minigame and will get a trophy with Baldi's face on it. The result says: "Wow, this fire will keep us warm all night! Way to go!" indicating that Baldi and the Explorer Student will be ready for the night. However, if the campfire goes out completely, the game will end. The result says: "Oh no! No fire means no s'mores! Better luck next time." indicating that Baldi and the Explorer Student do not get s'mores snacks and for another time the next day.
  • In Pick-Quick-Nic, Baldi will think of one or more foods that he wants to eat, and the player must choose a food that Baldi did not think of once the lid is lifted. The food that the player chooses is the one that will be eaten by the Explorer Student himself, not Baldi. If the player completes all eight rounds, the minigame will end and the result will say: "I'm stuffed! You are too? Great, now we're ready for a hike!" indicating that Baldi and the Explorer Student are full and ready to go hiking up the mountain. However, if the player gets three strikes, the game will end and the result will say: "I'm stuffed! You're still hungry? But we just ate a big lunch!" indicating that the Explorer Student is still hungry.

The Glitch[]

TempMenu Low

Baldi in his office in the ending of Plus.

After completing all floors, Baldi will appear in his office in front of the Explorer Student, where he will sing a song while dancing to congratulate him. After the song ends, everything around his office suddenly glitches and distorts, with Baldi performing faster movements, and his student will return to his home. The game will then 'turn into a BadSum of distorted, randomly colored screens.

Basement[]

ClassicRemastered12

Baldi in Demo Style of Classic Remastered.

After he got his student out of his super school by using his glitch ability, Baldi had a plan to move some of his math machines to the original Schoolhouse with the help of his co-workers and his students inside the school. He and the others worked together to move the machines so that the Entity would not realize that they were moving something. Baldi then made some number balloons, which were the remains of his math powers. A few months ago in the same year, the Entity was surprised that the math machines had been moved to the original Schoolhouse and he scolded and wanted to hack Baldi for moving the machines. However, with the Entity's sense of hearing, he heard that the Explore Student wanted to return to the school for the third time in order to find lore in the school's contents. The Entity realized this and he told Baldi for the third time to stop one of his students, with the condition that if he failed again, he would be locked in a development room.

When the Explorer Student entered the school for the third time, Baldi greeted and welcomed his student again by calling his original school as a "demo". In this school, Baldi has placed seven math machines throughout the classrooms. Each math machine has only one question, in which the Explorer Student must insert the correct number balloon into it, which slowly floats around the classroom. Regardless of whether or not he answers the question correctly, a notebook will appear. If the player answers it correctly, Baldi will reward the Explorer Student with another Quarter which, as before, can be used later in his journey. However, once the student enters the second classroom, the math machines contain unsolvable problems: thus, numbers, operations, and question marks become problematic. Baldi will of course become angry, with the secret that he distorted the problems on purpose. If all else is equal, the Explorer Student must avoid his teacher a third time and collect notebooks found in various classrooms while answering questions on the math machines.

If the player can answer all of the math machines correctly and then answer the six bonus questions correctly, the Explorer Student will be awarded a Portal Poster, which must then be used in the classroom with the Safety Scissors poster inside. This will reveal a staircase leading to Baldi's Basement. When the Student Explorer enters the room with the shrinking machine inside, the Entity will appear behind him, asking why he hasn't destroyed the game yet, before explaining that he knows that he wants to know the game's lore. During his speech, the Entity reveals to Explorer Student that he has no real name, so it is most logical to call himself as "Null".

Birthday Bash[]

BirthdayBash2

Baldi in Birthday Bash.

One year later after the event of Demo Style. In celebratory to the one-year anniversary of the original game, Baldi invites the Explorer Student back to the school. Much like before, he will still chasing him after getting a question wrong. But once all seven notebooks are collected, Baldi and the other residents of Schoolhouse shout "Surprise!" once the Explorer Student reaches the cafeteria exit.

Baldi tells the Explorer Student to step on a lift and blow out the candle on a large cake. Once the candle is blown out, the lights dim and everyone is lifted into the air, forcing the Explorer Student to a hallway full of glitched rooms.

Normal Ending[]

ThanksBasics

Baldi and other of Schoolhouse in the normal ending of Birthday Bash.

The glitched rooms contain corrupted files resembling colored Baldis that do not harm the Explorer Student. One of these rooms is Baldi's Office. He must count the Baldis based on their color in buttons in one room littered with balloons; should him do it correctly, Baldi shouts "Wow!" before a room opens. Stepping into the room spawns multiple hostile colored versions of Baldi, forcing the Explorer Student to run. Once enough time has passed, a distorted "Thank you" screen appears featuring Baldi and the others.

Alternate/True Ending[]

An alternate ending can be found if the player was to use a "Dangerous Teleporter" to get back to the first floor. However, obtaining the teleporter is very hard, as this item has a very low spawn rate, and can only be obtained from the vending machines. Once inside the Principal's Office, the Explorer Student will find Null again in the office, who will once again congratulate him in finding him, before he telling him to destroy the game once again.

The Remorseful[]

Congratulations! You found all seven notebooks! Now all you need to do is...
Find a way out before I catch you!
HAHAAA!
~ Baldi threatening the Explorer Student once he has collected all of the seven notebooks, without being manipulated by Null.

After the NULL Style/Glitch Style are defeated, Baldi's initially cruel and abusive behavior finally ends for years. There are 3 new secret endings that can be accessed after the player reaches the exit:

  • First New Secret Ending

Baldi in his office, telling the Explorer Student how negetive numbers work.

In Classic Style, Baldi will stand near the desk and teach the Explorer Student subtraction problems, especially negative numbers.
  • Second New Secret Ending

Baldi in the Principal's office, ready to have the Explorer Student listen to his "Funtime Song", which can be drowned out by the ambience.

In Party Style, After entering the glitched school and using the Dangerous Teleporter to go down and enter the Principal's office, Baldi will be there and play "Baldi's Funtime Song" for the Explorer Student to listen to, as a surprise.
  • Third New Secret Ending

    Baldi in his basement room.

In Demo Style, After entering the room with the shrink machine, Baldi will open the door of his shrink machine and ask for the Explorer Student's help to test it by pressing a button. After he presses the button, the machine will run, but it ends up with an explosion. Baldi returns looking messy after the door opens and says that the machine still needs repairing.
  • Overall, when all seven notebooks are collected in any of the three game modes, the shout "GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!" will be replaced by Baldi saying "Find a way out before I catch you!" after a short pause.

Related Media and Spin-Offs[]

Field Trip Demo[]

In the minigame, Baldi takes the Explorer Student camping in the woods and leaves him to gather sticks for the campfire as he goes set up bear traps. If the fire goes out before time runs out, Baldi spawns at the campfire and almost immediately catches the player. Currently, the game is still in under-development.

Public Demo[]

In the public demo for the full game, Baldi wants to play hide-and-seek with the player, and chases after them once they walk a good distance away. Much like the original game, as the player collects notebooks, Baldi gets much faster, until his speed becomes so fast that it becomes almost impossible to escape without a strategy.

In one of the random events, Baldi breaks his ruler, causing the player to stop hearing him approach for several seconds. If the player has collected an apple by the time Baldi catches them, he will eat the apple, stopping for ten seconds to eat before continuing chasing the player.

Kickstarter Exclusive Demo[]

In the Kickstarter Exclusive demo, Baldi will behave exactly the same in the Public Demo. The player will have to beat him at Hide-and-Seek in 3 different floors in the Super Schoolhouse. After this is done, the player will be taken to a black room, with Baldi standing before them. Turning around will reveal text saying:

"Some day, you will get the satisfying, canonical, and exciting ending that you deserve."

"Today is not that day."

When the player turns back around, Baldi will dab for a few seconds, before the game ends.

In the demo's new Farm field trip, if the player runs out of time for getting to the flag in the corn maze, a massive Gotta Sweep (officially named Gotta Reap) will being to destroy the entire maze, before Baldi begins chasing the player.

In the indie horror game Strange Terror From The Deep, Baldi appeared as one of the enemies. Mystman12 provided the voice dialogue for him.

Advanced Education with Viktor Strobovski[]

In Advanced Education with Viktor Strobovski, a horror game inspired by Baldi's Basics, Baldi makes multiple cameo appearances:

  • In the history level, there is a book named "BBiEaL" (with the quotation marks), which is short for the original game, Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning. It is a pink book with a sprite of Baldi on it. When given to Erie, she will complain about it.
  • In an inaccessible area in the language level, there are multiple props, along with a static sprite of Baldi.
  • There is a joke item, which can only be found in test maps, called "Pocket bald", which uses a slightly distorted sprite of Baldi. When not in inventory, this item slowly duplicates itself, which can eventually freeze or crash the game.
    • There is an achievement called "bald", given when throwing the item into a cauldron.
  • In the joke "beta01" version, a rotated sprite of Baldi replaces the smile wolf, who occasionally appears in a blocked off hallway (meaning he can only be seen through a window).

Night of the Consumers[]

In the PS1-inspired indie horror game Night of the Consumers, Baldi makes a cameo as a plush in the left pocket of the backpack in the beginning.

Boofie's Bunker[]

Baldi also appears as an Easter egg character in Boofie's Bunker, a game made by JayskiBean. Mystman12 also did voice acting for this character.
