Balon Greyjoy is a recurring character in the series Game of Thrones and it novel counterparts A Song of Ice and Fire. He is the head of House greyjoy and Lord of the Iron Islands. He rebelled against the Iron Throne aproximately nine years before the story begins. His rebellion failed and as a result he lost his only surviving son, Theon, who was captured by Eddard Stark.
