Bamboo Pandamonium (also known as Bamboo Pandemonium in the Japanese version) is one of the eight Maverick bosses and a minor antagonist Mega Man X8. He makes his lair in the Booster Forest. His weapon is the Green Spinner, which has him launch green missiles from the cannons on his arms. X gains this weapon when Bamboo meets his defeat. Optic Sunfloward is weak to this weapon.
Bamboo Pandamonium was voiced by Sazame Manda in Japanese and Jonathan Love in English.
Character Description[]
Appearance[]
Bamboo Pandamonium was a massive Reploid, easily standing twice as tall as the Maverick Hunters. His body was mostly white and black in color, similar to a panda, and he had the head of a panda as well, as the resemblance was much closer than other animal-based Reploids, even possessing black eyes. The tubes and canisters on his back were green, meant to resemble bamboo shoots. His fingers were composed of large claws, which he could extend and retract into his forearms at will.
Personality[]
Despite his nature as a Maverick, Bamboo Pandamonium was calm, level-headed and thoughtful. He was aware that he had been labelled Maverick, but saw it as more of a pity and a hindrance than anything. He believed the world wants to be destroyed, as its history has been spent making destructive things like missiles and Reploids, and he liked Sigma's plan to create a new world.
However, Bamboo himself uses this facade to enforce the fact that he is selfish and condescending, and easily angered, too, as he believes his giant size, intimidation and verbal abuse tactics will help his get his way.
His Weapon[]
Bamboo Pandamonium uses Green Spinners as his main weapon. These missiles fly forwards, damaging any foe that gets in their way, thus behaving like the Spread Drill from Rockman & Forte. However, Green Spinners explode when they strike solid surfaces, rather than drilling through them. They are also unable to divide. Only X can get this weapon, while his partners use other means. The attack can be charged to launch four Green Spinners that rain down from up high.
Zero gains the Youdantotsu. He performs a thrust attack with his saber. This is same one Bamboo uses as his Overdrive Attack.
Axl shoots grenades from a grenade launcher for his version. This attack is called the Blast Launcher.
While the Green Spinner is his main weakness, Optic Sunfloward takes extra damage from these weapons.
Biography[]
Bamboo Pandamonium was a new-generation Reploid who was in charge of a rocket facility in the Booster Forest. When the facility got deactivated, Bamboo Pandamonium decided to stay there, eventually turning Maverick after realizing how most of history was spent on creating destructive things. He joins Sigma's rebellion, believing the world itself wants to be destroyed due to being a New Generation Reploid.
Bamboo Pandamonium fights by shooting rockets and grenades from his forearms, also summoning bamboo drills from the ground which the boss promptly smashes while running forward. (X and his allies can use them to wall-jump to avoid Bamboo's charge.) If the player gets too close, he will throw a barrage of punches which cause massive damage. When low on health, he will charge and throw a powerful lunge which can easily kill the player automatically and is very tough to dodge, requiring precise timing to be avoided. His weakness is the Melt Creeper.

Trivia[]
- Game files reveal that Bamboo Pandamonium was going to open his eyes and bear his sharp teeth at some point, but this was scrapped.
- Bamboo Pandamonium's Japanese surname comes from "pandemonium" (chaos, and the name of the capital of Hell) and "panda" (the animal that serves as his basis).
- There is a chance that Bamboo blubbers rather than saying, "It's all over!" during his overdrive attack.
- Bamboo Pandamonium is the only boss from Mega Man X8 to lack hands, and thus the third on-fortress Maverick in the Mega Man X series to lack hands, the first two being Launch Octopus from the first game and Crush Crawfish from the third.
- Bamboo Pandamonium may be weak to the Melt Creepers due to his explosive motif.
- Strangely, Earthrock Trilobyte takes normal damage from the Green Spinner despite that being an explosive weapon and his motif being stone-based.
