Sharing is caring! Your pancreas is mine!
~ Banban's motto.
Three birds with one stone! I get all of your keycards, I get the perfect specimen, and I don't have to deal with that thing down there. And it's all thanks to you! Oh come on, I didn't hit you that hard. Or maybe I did. Either way, it's best you take a nap while I prepare for our little surgery.
~ Banban after knocking out the player, his most famous quote.
I'll hold them off. Look for the surgeon.
~ Banban's last words before he is critically injured by the naughtified army.

Banban is the titular deuteragonist of the 2023 indie-horror game Garten of Banban. The lead mascot of the titular kindergarten. He was created by Uthman Adam to take care of the children, along with the other mascots. After the events of Bring a Friend Day, he aids the protagonist to help find their child, who are said to be somewhere in the abyss. He is the former archenemy of Stinger Flynn.

He is portrayed by Ghepo, who's also a developer of Garten of Banban.

Appearance[]

Banban appears as a tall red humanoid with two party hats covering his horns and his tongue is always sticking out of his mouth.

In his hellish form, Banban becomes bigger and more muscular. His eyes become pure white and loses his party hats. His mouth is wide open with sharp teeth and his tongue still sticking out.

Biography[]

Past[]

Banban was the first of the living mascots created by Uthman Adam to make the children learn better. He was the sixth case and was more intelligent and one of the few that can speak. He was shown to be friendly and considered himself human, despite his creators being disturbed by it. Sometime later, Banban and his gang manages to entertain children and educate them. However, during Bring a Friend Day, the mascots went completely feral, except for Banban, who seemingly tried to protect the children from Stinger Flynn.

In Garten of Banban II, some case reports shows that Banban himself doesn't recognize himself as non-human and is very intelligent. At some point, when Uthman attempted to confront him, the former attacked and had to be restrained, and was hostile to anyone that's near. However, he is only docile to one of the staff, that being Weverly Mason.

In Garten of Banban III, it is shown that Banban has a murderous side to him in which the staff attempted to avoid. They hear him talking to himself and huddling in an empty room, although they can only make out him saying some of the staff member's names, and mentioning someone's pancreas.

Garten of Banban II[]

Sometime later, he gets trapped in the Security Sector and manipulates the protagonist into helping him escape. After the protagonist retrieves a keycard and escapes from Nabnab, Banban knocks them out to take the keycards while remarking he didn't even hit them very hard, although he then adds that maybe he did hit them hard. He closes off by telling the protagonist to get ready for their little surgery, and the player is taken to the hospital area.

When the player escapes Slow Seline, they find Banban in a room with multiple doors representing all the mascots, along with a cake in the middle of the room. He states that he apologizes for attacking them, and that he had no choice due to not trusting her, But he knows that they want to save their child. He states that he is trying to save them too, but someone else has them deep below the facility. Someone far worse. He then tells the protagonist to head down to the elevator to the abyss.

Garten of Banban III[]

Banban talks to the player on the loudspeaker about how he can meet them physically due to him having murderous instincts, and tells them that he locked himself in the surveillance room. He then tells the protagonist that they have to go to the Aquatic Sector to meet Stinger Flynn. His hijacked form can be seen confronting the protagonist in a hallucination where he remarks that they have no organs, and most importantly no pancreas, before leaving. When the protagonist wakes up from Stinger Flynn's hallucination in the Assembly Room for the rejected mascots, Banban speaks to them and tells them that Stinger Flynn tricked them. He then proceeds to tell them that they can't go into Nabnab's room due to him being to violent and that they have to finish the surgery for Nabnaleena, instructing them on how to do so. After retrieving an audio file for the Assembly Room, Banban remarks that Nabnab is no longer lonely anymore, only to be cut off when Nabnab is knocked out and captured off-screen.

When the protagonist prepares to ride Tarta Bird, Stinger Flynn appears, revealing to had found out that Banban helped them, and hijacks him to attack the group. The protagonist, Tarta Bird, Opila Bird, and Little Beak then run from Banban in end up in a dark room. Banban corners Tarta and the protagonist, remarking about no matter how much they run from him, he can still smell their pancreas. Suddenly, Jumbo Josh appears and crushes Banban, and when he is about to finish him off, Stinger Flynn tries to stop him. The protagonist and Tarta Bird and climb to platform and watch. However, Josh then grabs Flynn, throwing him onto Banban, presumably killing both of them. The impact causes the ground to shake and Tarta Bird presumably falls to his death, as the lights turn off. It is unknown what happened to any of them after this.

Garten Of Banban IV[]

After returning with the first elevator part, Queen Bounceila informs you that one of your friends have arrived. When you go to check, you find Banban waiting in the infirmary. He talks to you about what happened in the third game saying that wasn't him and that's why he communicated from afar. He says he'll help you find the elevator piece when he's ready.

After waking up from the dream world, you head to the train station where Banban's been waiting for you. You and Banban get on the elevator with Mr. Kabob Man and go to the feeding sector for the second piece. During the ride, he introduces himself as Uthman Adam, saying he used to work here and talks about his "Friends". When arriving, he takes Mr. Kabob Man with him. You and Banban pass by Jumbo Josh who gets caught by Sheriff Toadster's trap and are stopped by two red doors. When opening them, Banban wants to get rid of Mr. Kabob Man, who he refers to as "The Imposter", giving someone a new friend as they may be very lonely (referring to Zolphius). He lets you do the honor of calling the friend, but Nabnab appears and kidnaps Mr. Kabob Man. You and Banban then chase after Nabnab to save Mr. Kabob Man. Banban corners Nabnab in a room and the two begin to fight until Banban unleashes his hellish form and knocks out Nabnab and turns back to normal. When entering the room, he says he know he can control it. He tells you to grab the elevator piece and leave as he has something to do.

Quotes[]

Garten of Banban[]

Sharing is caring! Your pancreas is mine!
~ Banban's quote on his mural.

Garten of Banban II[]

Hey! You there! I can see you on the cameras. I am so happy to see you, and I need your help with something. Wait... Can you even hear me? Hello? Listen, if you can hear what I'm saying, wave at any camera.
~ Banban's first lines to the parent.
Oh thank god. I am so glad you're here. I thought this was the end. I was looking around and walked into the security room, then the door closed behind me and I've been stuck here since. It needs a light blue keycard to open, but I don't have it. I know why you're here and I can help you, but you've got to get me out of here. If I recall correctly, only maintenance workers held the light blue keycard, so you're gonna have to go down to the maintenance room and look there. The door there is probably locked as well, and I can't open it from here, but I do have control over the break room door. Here. I opened it for you. See if you can find anything useful in there.
~ Banban, manipulating the parent.
Ah, the good old drones. I lost mine a couple of weeks ago. Maintenance workers used them for all sorts of things. Reaching high places, grabbing things that fell into the abyss and even comfort. It's good that you have one. It might useful in our little conundrum. Take a look around and see if you can get into the maintenance room. I'm unsure if I can be much of help, but wave at the cameras if you need my insight.
~ Banban, after the parent retrieves the toy drone.
Sweet! Now you can go down to the maintenance room. Remember you're looking for a light blue keycard. Good luck and thank you!
~ Banban, before leading the parent to a trap.
~ Banban after knocking out the parent, his most iconic quote.
Y'know, on a normal day you'd be standing where I am, behind the safety of this glass. Like you were in a zoo watching some animals. Speaking of zoos, it's almost assembly time where all of the doors open, so we must keep this brief. Look, I'm sorry I hit you but you gotta understand. I needed something from you which I could only get if you were unconscious and I was all out of sedatives. If you'd seen me you wouldn't have trusted me. I know it. But there's one thing I didn't lie to you about, and that's me knowing why you're here. You're here for your children. I, too, am working towards saving them if you could believe it. But someone else has them. Someone far stronger than you and me both that resides deep in the abyss. Oh no... You have to go. There's an elevator in Opila Bird's walkway. Take it and we'll talk again down there.
~ Banban, revealing his goals and why he knocked out the parent earlier on.

Garten of Banban III[]

Normal

Glad to see you've made it! I didn't know how you did it, but again you survived the giant elevator crash so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Also, again, I apologize for hitting you over the head. In fact, it is for this reason I believe we should not meet face-to-face. You see, for whatever reason I am prone to violent instincts, and I do not trust myself to not give into them again. I have locked myself inside of a surveillance room. That way I can help without being a danger to you. We are currently on the lowest floor to remain active before everything went awry. There are many more floors below us, but they've all remained closed and abandoned for quite some time now. So just make sure not to fall... As for your children, I don't know exactly where they're being kept, but I know someone who does. Head to the Aquatic Sector. That's where he resides.
~ Banban, greeting the parent in Garten of Banban III.
It just hit me that you need the keycard to operate the cable car. Shouldn't be too hard to find one. Literally everyone had a copy; it's how you'd get from station to station.
~ Banban
What happened to you is one of Stinger Flynn's tricks. He left for the progressive sector, but we have something more important to deal with right now. See Nabnab's Room? It's open now which means he's inside. He's on the hunt and it's too dangerous to do anything in this state. We have to deal with him. Luckily, I have a solution, but you won't like it. Head to the Medical Sector and we'll talk there.
~ Banban, after the parent escapes from Stinger Flynn's hallucination.
When Nabnab escaped, it wasn't long before workers started to disappear. Of course, precautions and training can only get you so far, so we had to think of a more permanent solution. Nabnaleena was that solution. We had a theory that Nabnab was as aggressive as he was due to his loneliness. We never got to prove this theory right, as the collapse happened during the surgery. That's where you come in. You'll be carrying out the final steps of said surgery. Givanium-related procedures are very delicate, so I am going to need you to pay very close attention to these instructions. The hard part is already done. All you need to do is mix the right concentrations and inject her with it about... 6 times? The machine with the droplet symbols is where that's done. When it's time, the screen will light up with the symbol of the needed concentration. For simplicity, the concentrations have been represented by color. Mix and achieve the right concentration, then collect it in the syringe and give it to Nabnaleena. The machine with the pipes will occasionally shift to the wrong colors, and when that happens, use the given tongs to revert them to their normal state of green. The buttons on the walls will also malfunction at times. When that happens, hit any ones that are lit with your drone. The excess Givanium that you can find in the room will deplete when anything malfunctions or when a concentration is needed to be delivered.

The procedure stops if any of the four depletes completely, and what happens next is never good. Only the best of us perform Givanium procedures, but we don't have much of a choice. Good luck.

~ Banban, about Nabnaleena and how Nabnab went feral in the first place.
I hope that wasn't too hard. Anyway, grab the audio disk and head back to the aquatic sector and play it on the big speaker in the lounge. Time for a spidery union.
~ Banban, congratulating the parent for completing the surgery,
At last, he's no longer miserable. I'm surprised they weren't originally members of the mutants below. They'd certainly fit. This is- [loud crash]
~ Banban, commenting about Nabnab, before being interrupted when the latter is captured by either Stinger Flynn or Jumbo Josh presumably.

Hellish

No liver, no intestines, but most importantly... No pancreas... You sir need to have more organs. What am I supposed to eat it if there is nothing to eat? Guess I'm going to have to look elsewhere...
~ Hellish Banban, about the parent in Stinger Flynn's hallucination.
You can run away, but the smell of your pancreas will always draw me to you.
~ Hellish Banban's last words before being crushed by Jumbo Josh.

Garten of Banban IV[]

When the Queen mentioned having many new visitors in one day, I knew it had to be you. Listen, whatever happened to me... Whatever I tried doing to you... Just know it wasn't actually me. I was forced to obey without much thought. I tried communicating with you from afar for a reason. Now you know the true reason why. Still, I want to make it up to you. The Queen filled me in on the situation with the elevator. I want to help with that. I feel much more in control now. I'll come help you find the missing pieces of the elevator. I just need to rest for a little bit and I'll meet you at whatever that station is.
~ Banban greeting the parent and apologising for his actions in Garten of Banban IV.
Where have you been? I've been waiting for a while. The next piece that we need should be at the second station. The feeding sector.
~ Banban after the parent escapes from Stinger Flynn's hallucination.
I feel now is a good time to introduce ourselves, which we haven't done up to this point if you can belive it. I am Uthman. I worked here before everything came crashing down, literally and figuratively. I can't imagine the stuff you've witnessed down here. My coworkers and I should've spoken up sooner. Perhaps all of this should've been prevented then. But then again, my coworkers weren't really friends in those last couple of months anyway, so it would've needed some good planning. You ever had those friends that suddenly turn on you for no reason? To say mine turned on me would be an understatement. They suddenly stopped talking to me. They looked at me like I was some sort of monster. Sometimes I lose my temper, sure, but it seemed excessive. I was and still am confused, to say the least. We're here. Let's get going.
~ Banban revealing himself as "Uthman Adam" during the ride to the feeding sector.
Wait, get down!
That must've been a trap that the sheriff set up earlier. Poor Josh... I can't imagine how confusing this has all been for him...
~ Banban after he and the parent witness Jumbo Josh get captured by one of Sheriff Toadster's traps.
That wasn't locked the last time I was here... Can't be too hard to get it open, though, right?
There seems to be two doors behind each other. I think we opened the inner one.
~ Banban if the parent does the OK puzzle first.
Before we grab the elevator piece there's something I need to do first. I need to hand this impostor over to someone very close to me. You do the honors.
~ Banban handing over Mr. Kabob Man over to presumably Zolphius.
He must've gotten very lonely, but I got him a new friend. Now... We wait...
~ Banban right before Nabnab takes Mr. Kabob Man away.
Wait... No! Nabnab! We can't let Nabnab take him!
~ Banban and the parent about to give chase to Nabnab.
I tried fixing you so many times, but you're just unfixable! Enough is enough!
~ Banban right before he and Nabnab fight.
I can control it. I know I can... I have a few things I need to do around here, you go back without me. The elevator part should be around here somewhere.
~ Banban after the fight.

Garten of Banban VI[]

Glad to know you survived the madness happening outside. I've seen cases escape containment before, but nothing this crazy. You're not much of a talker, so I'm going to assume you're here for an important reason. You wouldn't risk your life to be here otherwise. Whatever it is, I'll come with you.
~ Banban greeting the parent in the potentiality sector.
This one needs opening as well.
Look at this place. It seems really familiar, but I'm not sure where I could've seen something like this.
Watch out! What is that doing in here?!
~ Banban upon seeing a Naughty One in the red door.
Hey! Is that guy over there a friend of yours?
~ Banban upon seeing Sir Dadadoo on top of one of the buildings.
You can tell him to get down now. It's not like we're gonna eat his pancreas. Hey! You can get down now. We're friendly!
~ Banban right before he gets knocked out by Sir Dadadoo.
Nothing it's strange...
Nabnab showed up, although I'm not sure if anyone would be happy to hear this. He tried some of his usual shenanigans, so I put him in a cage. Also, you're big cat friend just walked in here like it knew the place. I didn't dare get close to it.
~ Banban explaining to the parent and Bittergiggle what happened whilst they were gone.
Stinger Flynn wanted a word. It feels weird to be on the same side again after all that's happened.
~ Banban telling the parent Stinger Flynn wanted to speak with them.
Quick! Stay in the middle where it can't reach you! I was about to set up a trap for that thing, but now we gotta get you out! Actually, we can do both. You're surrounded by an electricity trap. But they need a lot of power. Big batteries scattered in the tents in the corners. Have something do as much noise as possible, and then make a run for it while it's distracted.
~ Banban during the Little Beak boss fight.
Now! Head to the lit tents!
All that area between those two tents should be out of its reach!
I don't think it'll fall for the same trick twice, but you still need the other battery!
It's activated and a large radius should be covered! Get the bird to dive one more time!
~ Banban telling the parent how to stop Little Beak.
If we get through this, we should hire you as a safety trainer. I don't know how long we'll be safe for, so let's gey out of here. Stay where you are and I'll see what I can do about that big door.
~ Banban after the Little Beak boss fight.
That is not something I want to experience again. I'll look for the switch where I am and you look where you are. Let me see if I can open that exit for you.
~ Banban after Little Beak gets turned back to normal.
When I couldn't find the switch on my floor I headed back. Figured I'd get lost trying to find you.
~ Banban after the parent heads back to the storage bay.
Hold on. First I need to do something. I don't think he'll have Naughty Ones to worry about soon.
~ Banban before he lets Nabnab out.
Let's get this over with.
Well we can only look for him if we have the scepter.
~ Banban after Bittergiggle questions where Syringeon is.
It seems eerily simple to just click the eject button. Are we sure we want to press it?
You won't be doing any of that. Forget what happened between us before. You know you've always been my friend. But what are friends for if not for times like these?
~ Banban right before he injects Nabnab to fight Sir Dadadoo.
Run!
What? What do you mean?
Who's they?
I'll hold them off. Look for the surgeon.
~ Banban's last words before he is presuembly killed by Sir Dadadoo's army.

Mr. Kabob Man[]

Behave or get Ban-banned!
~ Mr. Kabob Man
Hand over your pancreas!
~ Mr. Kabob Man
Three stones with one bird!
~ Mr. Kabob Man
Open sesame.
~ A secret voiceline from Mr. Kabob Man.

Trivia[]

  • A secret tape that can be found in the storage area where Nabnab is shows Banban curled up in a room.
  • It was also revealed in a Case Update Report that Uthman Adam created him.
  • He, along with Banbaleena, Stinger Flynn, Slow Seline, Sheriff Toadster, Queen Bouncelia, Bittergiggle, alongside his clones, Sir Dadadoo, the Givanium Infants, Syringeon and the Givanium Citizens are the only monsters who can speak so far.
  • It is mentioned by Banban that he used to own a toy drone similar to that of the parent's drone. However, he then states that at some point he lost the drone.
    • However, Banban says this when he's pretending to be a worker in Garten of Banban II, so it's possible he was lying about this,
  • When Banban knocks out the parent, he mentions for them to get ready for their little surgery. It is unknown what he meant by this, however.
  • In an early version of Garten of Banban, Banban's motto ended with "What's yours is mine!", but was replaced with "Your pancreas is mine!" in the final versions.
    • In fact, his motto foreshadows his murderous instincts in Garten of Banban III, explaining why he locked himself in the surveillance room.
    • According to Stinger Flynn, Banban in his Hellish form is obsessed with pancreas.
    • However, after the Player makes Opila Bird fall into the Ball Pit and goes back into the room with the Banban mural, it will change to "Sharing is caring! What's yours is mine!"
  • When the parent attempts to complete the puzzle with Mr. Kabob Man, the latter contains recordings of Banban and his hellish form.
  • Prior to the release of Garten of Banban III, it was theorized that Stinger Flynn controlled Banban in his hellish form. This was proven to be half-right as although Banban becomes his hellish form by Stinger Flynn before chasing the protagonist, a secet tape in the game shows Banban transforming into his hellish form on his own.
  • Originally, Banban was going to be called Flumbo, as seen in the game files of Garten of Banban. However, this was changed later on, although he still named Flumbo in the game files. However, in Garten of Banban VII, Flumbo is officially a separate character.
  • It was theorized the Banban was actually the monster form of Uthman Adam and it was confirmed in Chapter IV.
    • However, in a Case Update Report, it mentions that Banban's genome donor is Uthman Adam's which makes him belive he is Uthman.
  • He is one of the seven characters who helps the parent.
  • Banban's first render was first made on October 4th, 2022.
    • The render was also used as a placeholder for the game's icon when it was still called Garten of Croopa.
