I am Bane, the last opponent you will ever face.
~ Bane introducing himself to Batman.

Bane is a recurring antagonist in The Batman. He is a hitman who was hired by crime bosses to kill Batman.

Portrayals[]

  • He was voiced by Joaquim de Almeida in his first appearance titled "Traction".
  • He was also voiced by Ron Perlman in the episode "Team Penguin".
  • He was also voiced by Clancy Brown in the episode "The Batman Superman Story Part 1".

Appearance[]

Bane is a pale man wearing a black suit with a mask, he wears a tube that injects a yellow chemical called Venom into him. Once he uses Venom, he becomes a hulking creature - his skin turns red and his mask opens up revealing his yellow eyes and teeth.

Personality[]

Bane is a calculated hitman. When he attacked the truck with money, he made it seem like a simple robbery, but instead it was a trap made up for Batman. Even on venom, his intellect remained intact, his attacks were still calculated, and he even outsmarted Batman, because when he thought Bane was defeated, he caught him off-guard by sprinting out of the smoke, and beating him up.

Biography[]

Bane made his way to Gotham City where he almost immediately began his reign of terror. He met up with crime bosses who ordered him to beat up Batman Bane's Power Infusion Module (The equipment that delivered his Venom), was a system of tubes which stretched around his body and was activated by a dial on his hand. Due to his fantastic strength when he used the device and his high intelligence, Bane was one of Batman's most dangerous foes. In his first battle with Batman he injured him badly thus sending him to the hospital. However, Venom and Bane's tubing system was perhaps a weakness, since, Batman rammed an exposed electrical wire into Bane's Venom applier by using the Batbot made by Alfred Pennyworth. Thus Batman defeated him.

His Venom was later stolen by Joker who used it to become a Monster and spread chaos around Gotham.

The villain later attacked a Gotham bank and began stealing money. During his attack, Bane was given a letter by Penguin asking if Bane wanted to join a supervillain Gang Before the bank robber could reply, he was attacked by Batman, Batgirl, and the hero's new sidekick Robin. The heroes defeated Bane and he was returned to jail before he could respond to Penguin.

Later, Bane was taken from jail by a new vigilante by the name of Rumor. Rumor planned to kill Bane and many other supervillains, but the Batman stopped him. After being freed Bane tried to kill his rescuer for getting in his way and was taken to jail yet again with the other Villains including rumor.

Bane appeared as one of the villains who helped to fight The Joining alongside Joker, Penguin, Mr Freeze and the GPCD.

Bane was one of the supervillains alongside Mr Freeze, Black Mask, and Clayface who was hired by Lex Luthor to attack Superman although Batman and Robin stopped them all from killing the Man of Steel.

Powers and Abilities[]

Peak Human Condition: Without his Venom, Bane's natural strength, speed, stamina, reflexes, agility, metabolism, intelligence & vitality were at peak-human limits. He was even able to go toe to toe with Batman.

Martial Arts: Bane's combat skills were almost near Batman's level.

Tactical/Strategic Genius: Bane was able to "Bait" & "Trap" Batman, when he was needed for his missions, he was also able to catch him off-guard.

Venom Serum: The Power Infusion Module which delivered Venom, a super-soldier serum, to his system, Bane gained a certain set of extraordinary physical powers.

Superhuman Muscle Mass: As a result of the Venom infusion, Bane gained a rapid increase in muscle mass and became nearly the actual size of a bank vault.

Superhuman Strength: Bane was shown the strength to be able to rip open a bank's vault's door, as well as other feats of incredible superhuman strength. He also was able to lift Batman with one hand and smash him with ease.

Superhuman Stamina: Bane was shown to not tire after a long time of exertion during a fight with Batman in the mechanical suit.

Superhuman Durability: Bane had a bullet-proof skin and was highly resilient to physical trauma. When Batman threw everything he got at him, it did nothing. And when Batman was in a mechanical suit, he threw him at a helicopter, which then exploded, and Bane was still fighting and had no injuries whatsoever.

Trivia[]

  • Like most of the villains from The Batman, his looks are unique compared to animated series and comics.
