The Bangladeshi Unsub (so named for Fandom) is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders episode “Made In...”. The unsub is a kidnapper and murderer motivated by his rage over international businessman that stole his family and his community’s safety from him.
He’s portrayed by Jeremiah Caleb.
Biography[]
The unsub, his wife, and their young daughter worked at an outsourced labor factory for textiles, all of them like the rest of the employees endangered to poor conditions and frequent accidents on the job. A fire broke out that destroyed the first three floors in a collapse that killed many workers due to being buried alive and sparse work efforts, the victims including the unsub’s family. The owner of the business buried the entire accident, turning the unsub’s pain and grief into an irate spite and grudge against international businesspeople outsourcing labor. When he heard David Curry and Robbie Garcia, two Americans wanting their own clothing label, were coming to tour the country for business ventures, the unsub snapped and decided to kill them to stop any further business expansion in his home community.
The unsub knows where the cab driver, Jamal Muti, will take David and Robbie, so he blocks the road with his own car. Getting out of his car, he cuts Jamal’s throat with a machete, then forces David and Robbie out into the desert to march all the way to the factory. The unsub starts on Robbie, beating him, asphyxiating him, and breaking his leg with a mallet to torture him. David tries to flee with Robbie while carrying him, but the unsub cuts Robbie’s throat with his machete too. David runs until the unsub catches him, but the International Response Team stops him before he can kill David. After the unsub professes his rage over his family’s deaths, he is arrested and incarcerated.
Trivia[]
- The unsub's crimes are primarily inspired by the disappearance of Jim Thompson, an American fashion designer and war spy who put his business efforts into expanding Thailand's sill industry, until he went missing.
