The Banoi Butcher is a minor antagonist in the 2011 zombie horror game Dead Island.
It's currently unknown as to who voice acted for him.
Biography[]
Past[]
Very little is known for certain about the Banoi Butcher's past. According to the inmates at the Banoi Maximum Security Prison, when he was just nine years old, he took a machete and butchered his entire family with it for no apparent reason and then proceeded to eat their flesh.
Sometime later, he was eventually arrested for his crimes and sent to one of the highest security prisons on Earth, along with terrorists, gangsters, and even hitmen, all of whom feared even himself due to his reputation.
Dead Island[]
Sometime after the outbreak of The Infected, the prisoners managed to overrun the prison and take it over from the security guards. The prisoners keep the Banoi Butcher away from everyone else however, fearing he'd just kill and eat everyone he saw to satisfy his unending hunger.
After Mowen (a former prisoner of the island) brings Sam B., Xian Mei, Logan Carter, and Purna Jackson to the island in search of The Voice, a man named Angel asks one of the four heroes to kill the Banoi Butcher once and for all, in exchange for a very powerful weapon.
If the player accepts the mission, they are told he's inside the therapy room surrounded with people he's killed and are advised to follow the bodies to find him. Once he's finally seen by the players, he mocks them with one of his latest kills and then urges them to step into his room and face him. After a fight with him, how long depending on the player's skills and weapons, he's finally killed to put an end to his madness and hold of fear over all the other prisoners. As promised for killing him, the player is rewarded with one of the best weapons in the game, a katana known as Zed's Demise.
If the player declines and continues the main story until after the mission "Devil's Labyrinth", the prison is attacked by the infected and he's nowhere to be seen, meaning he either somehow escaped the island using the heroes' boat to wreak further havoc wherever he pleased, he was killed and eaten by the zombies, or he was infected and turned into one of them as well.

- The Banoi Butcher is the strongest human enemy in the game, managing to do five times the amount of melee damage as any other random bandit, being on par with Thugs and Butchers.
- Before the latest version of the game was released, The Definitive Edition, The Banoi Butcher was no stronger than any of the other humans enemies and could be easily killed with any firearms in the player's inventory.
- The reward for killing the Banoi Butcher is a katana called "Zed's Demise", which itself is a reference to 1994 Pulp Fiction's secondary antagonist, Zed.
