Bara Baby is the Baby-themed Machine Beast of the Machine Empire Baranoia serving Emperor Bacchus Wrath and a minor antagonist in Chouriki Sentai Ohranger; being the main antagonist of the 12th episode.
He is voiced by the late Isamu Tanonaka who also voiced Loki in Cyborg 009, Youaltepuztli in the adaptation of Akuma-kun and Aziz in the Japanese dub of the Aladdin TV series.
Biography[]
Past[]
As with all members of the Machine Empire Baranoia, Bara Baby was built by Emperor Bacchus Wrath and Empress Hysteria some 65 million years ago on Planet Baranoia. Along with the rest of the Machine Beasts and the Barlo Soldiers, Bara Baby helped them to devastate and conquer multiple planets. Due to being considered an elite Machine Beast, he was kept on the planet Daraura alongside Bara Darts, Bara Printer and Bara Missiler.
Ohranger[]
Millions of years later, in 1999, Bacchus Wrath and his Empire return to Earth and launch an invasion of Earth but the Ohrangers arise to oppose them.
Bara Baby is seen in silhouette on Daraura when Bacchus Wrath selects Bara Missiler to be the test subject for Acha and Kocha's growth program.
Hysteria is appalled by humanity's love for babies so Bacchus Wrath decides to exploit that to create a weapon of mass destruction. As such, Bara Baby is the last of the elite Machine Beasts to be summoned from Daraura with the mission of amplifying a baby's voice so much that it will destroy Tokyo. Bara Baby is first seen posing as a baby toy in Kou's room before revealing himself and blasting him with a ray as well as every baby in the neighbourhood. As revealed the next day, the ray increases the babies' cries to such extremes that they are capable of levelling entire buildings. After the babies' cries cause havoc, he tries to affect a different baby only to be confronted by the Ohrangers who were just across the street. He summons Barlo Soldiers to defeat them but this fails so Bara Baby tortures them with sonic waves before blasting them down and fleeing. Cornered by the Ohrangers, he uses Kou and the others to cause mass destruction which allows him to escape in the chaos.
However, as Acha and Kocha soon report, the entire plan doesn’t work since the humans just pamper their babies to make them stop crying so Bacchus Wrath decides to use the destructive cries to destroy humanity's infrastructure and leave the Earth completely helpless against invasion. As a result, Bara Baby attacks the hospital where the babies are being treated and uses the deafening baby cries to escape with Kou to the Tokyo Oil Refinery where more Barlo Soldiers as well as Acha and Kocha meet up with him. With the aid of some Takonpas, they manage to hold off the Ohrangers and Bara Baby even accidentally sends Kou plummeting to his death but Goro saves him and the Ohrangers destroy the Barlo Soldiers.
Enraged, Bara Baby attacks to force the baby to cry; torturing and blasting the Ohrangers once more only to be hit by Goro's Star Riser Attack and defeated by the Big Bang Buster. However, Acha and Kocha then enlarge Bara Baby so the Ohrangers summon Ohranger Robo but Bara Baby is more than a match for it. After throwing some baby bottles bombs, he starts firing lasers at Ohranger Robo but the Super Crown Sword deflects it back and they destroy Bara Baby with the Crown Final Crash. With Bara Baby's death, the effects on the affected babies disappear.
Legacy[]
Despite the entire impotence for Bara Baby's plan being Empress Hysteria's burning hatred of babies, by the final episode, she had grown to love Kaiser Buldont and Multiwa's baby Buldont Jr so much that she killed herself to save him.
Personality[]
Bara Baby acted like a very playful and child-minded creature who spoke with a thick lisp. However, he was in actuality a sadistic and abusive being willing to cause misery to babies to accomplish his goals and torture his enemies with sonic sound.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Durability: Bara Baby was completely unfazed by the Star Riser finisher and multiple punches to the face from Ohranger Robo did nothing to him.
- Non-Ageing: Due to being a robot, Bara Baby was unable to age.
- Sight: Bara Baby was able to see despite only having eyebrows.
- Toy Transformation: Bara Baby could transform into a small clown toy to disguise himself.
- Head Detachment: Bara Baby could stick his head out from his body and make it spin.
- Head Blasts: Bara Baby could also detach his head and make it spin to spew blue lasers from the gap between his head and neck.
- Frequency Manipulation: Bara Baby could fire blue energy rings from the blue ball on his head at a baby so that, when the baby cried, they would emit a high frequency sound-wave that was capable of destroy Tokyo.
- Frequency Lightning: A stronger version where he could dance and spray blue waves mixed with blue lightning from his head ball. Instead of being localised, this would enhance all of the babies in the neighbourhood with the sonic screams.
- Forced Crying: Bara Baby could also release blue energy waves from his head ball to make his infected babies cry at will.
- Frequency Lightning: A stronger version where he could dance and spray blue waves mixed with blue lightning from his head ball. Instead of being localised, this would enhance all of the babies in the neighbourhood with the sonic screams.
- Barlo Soldier Summoning: Bara Baby could summon Barlo Soldiers to aid him in battle by spreading his arms.
- Speaker Waves: Bara Baby could fire light blue energy rings from the speaker on his chest to torture the enemies.

- Baby Scepter: Bara Baby wielded a long white-pink scepter in battle.
- Energy Blasts: Bara Baby could fire blue energy blasts from his scepter. This took down all five Ohrangers with one hit.
- Baby Rattle: Bara Baby wielded a rattle which could shoot his enemies with blue energy tornadoes to disorientate them.
- Sword: After being enlarged, Baby Baby was equipped with a long floppy silver sword that he could use to slash his enemies.
- Milk Bombs: Bara Baby could generate baby bottle-like bombs that he could throw into his enemies.
