Bara Clothes is the Silkworm-themed Machine Beast of the Machine Empire Baranoia serving Empress Hysteria and a minor antagonist in Chouriki Sentai Ohranger, serving as the main antagonist of the 23rd episode.
He is voiced by the late Hiroshi Ōtake who previously voiced voiced Hikouman and Reidoman in Robot Detective,Frangen in Akumaizer 3 and later voiced President Gynamo in Gekisou Sentai Carranger and Sutoijii in Seijuu Sentai Gingaman. However, he is better known as King Nikochan in Dr. Slump, Hikouman and Reidoman in Robot Detective and Frangen in Akumaizer 3.
Biography[]
Past[]
As with all members of the Machine Empire Baranoia, Bara Clothes was built by Emperor Bacchus Wrath and Empress Hysteria some 65 million years ago on Planet Baranoia. Along with the rest of the Machine Beasts and the Barlo Soldiers, Bara Clothes helped them to devastate and conquer multiple planets.
Ohranger[]
Millions of years later, in 1999, Bacchus Wrath and his Empire return to Earth and launch an invasion of Earth but the Ohrangers arise to oppose them.
When the Ohrangers take a trip to the beach, Hysteria is disgusted to find Prince Buldont and Bacchus Wrath looking at a swimsuit magazine so she sends Bara Clothes to enslave all humans using their own clothing. Bara Clothes is first seen when the Ohrangers go for food and infects the male Ohrangers' clothes with his Metallic Wave ability. When he attempts to target Juri and Momo though, they spot him so he retreats to the beach where they fight and he overwhelms them and takes control of Momo when the other brainwashed Ohrangers arrive. Although he attacks her with them, Juri manages to escape so he sends the other Ohrangers and some Barlo Soldiers after her whilst he attacks and enslaves a boy. Although they are slowly defeated by a commando Juri, Bara Clothes confronts her atop a cliffs by using the child to strangle her only for her to throw a grenade and jump off the cliff.
When Juri resurfaces, the Ohrangers defeat her and Bara Clothes uses his Metallic Wave but it fails when she strips off to her bikini and strikes his antenna; freeing the others from his control. They morph so Bara Clothes blasts them only for Juri to overwhelm him with her Splash Illusion and Chouriki Baton attacks before they defeat the Machine Beast with the Chouriki Dynamite Attack. Acha and Kocha enlarge the Machine Beast so the Ohrangers form Ohranger Robo only to be restrained and electrified in Bara Clothes' silk. Goro summons Red Puncher and, with its star blasts, they knock back the Machine Beast and free Ohranger Robo before overwhelming him with the Puncher Gatling and Dogu Head's Dogu Vulcan. With the Machine Beast unfazed by either, the Ohrangers form Buster Ohranger Robo and destroy Bara Clothes with the Big Cannon Burst.
Yuri later remembers defeating Bara Clothes with the rest of the Ohrangers after the team disbands once the Machine Empire Baranoia is no more.
Gaoranger vs Super Sentai[]
Miku of the Megarangers recalls Bara Clothes to Sae Taiga of the Gaorangers during a speech about the past fights that other Sentai have had after Lost Highness Duke Rakushaasa makes him lose hope. Miku uses Juri's battle against Bara Clothes as an example of how past female Sentai Rangers used their talents and disguises to trick and defeat their enemies.
Personality[]
Bara Clothes is a violent sadist who is willing to torment Yuri with her brainwashed friends before having them kill her. Although he is loyal to Hysteria, he is also a pervert; watching Juri and Momo when they are half naked and making lewd comments about their appearances.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: Single punches from Bara Clothes sent Momo and Juri flying as well as grab and throw away the former. When giant, he was able to knock around Ohranger Robo with single smacks.
- Headbutt: Bara Clothes can also perform a powerful headbutt which knocked back Ohranger Robo.
- Durability: Bara Clothes was completely unfazed by Momo and Juri kicking him, her destroying his antenna with a knife as well as the Splash Illusion and Chouriki Baton attacks. When giant, he withstood multiple punches from Ohranger Robo, Red Puncher's star blasts, the Puncher Gatling and the Dogu Head's Dogu Vulcan without a scratch.
- Non-Ageing: Due to being a robot, Bara Clothes was unable to age.
- Bilingualism: Bara Clothes can speak both English and Japanese.
- Reflexes: Bara Clothes has very fast reflexes, being able to spot and easily run away from a grenade before it exploded.
- Metallic Wave: Bara Clothes' signature ability where he fires a yellow energy spray from his antenna which means that, whenever humans wear infected clothes, it becomes a set of armor that brought the wearers under his control.
- Mind Control: Once a human is trapped in Bara Clothes' silk, he csn easily brainwash them and turn them into his evil Armor People by flashing the yellow light atop his antenna.
- Lightning Blasts: Bara Clothes can fire powerful streams of blue lightning from the tips on his chest. These are powerful enough to cause large explosions and knock down the Ohrangers.
- Silk Spit: Bara Clothes can spit white silk from his mouth that is capable of restraining his enemies and rendering them powerless. These are strong enough to leave Ohranger Robo completely defenceless.
- Silk Flinging: Bara Clothes can rear his hands back and throw yellow and purple silk over his enemies to restrain them even more.
- Electrocution: Bara Clothes can then electrify his streamers with blue lightning from his fingers to electrocute his enemies.
Weaknesses[]
- Bikinis: If humans were only wearing bikinis, Bara Clothes' Metallic Waves would be useless as he could only infect full clothing.
- Antenna: Striking the antenna atop Bara Clothes' head hard enough would break his control over his victims and render his mind control powers useless.
