Bara Darts is the Scorpion-themed Machine Beast of the Machine Empire Baranoia serving Emperor Bacchus Wrath and a minor antagonist in Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. He was a cameo antagonist in the 8th episode, the main antagonist of the 9th and a supporting antagonist in the 33rd.
He is voiced by the late Kiyoshi Kobayashi who also later voices Degius in Seijuu Sentai Gingaman. However, is better known as Crystal Bowie in Space Cobra, Aiguille Delaz in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and Uranda in Doraemon: Nobita and the Windmasters.
Biography[]
Past[]
As with all members of the Machine Empire Baranoia, Bara Darts was built by Emperor Bacchus Wrath and Empress Hysteria some 65 million years ago on Planet Baranoia. Along with the rest of the Machine Beasts and the Barlo Soldiers, Bara Darts helped them to devastate and conquer multiple planets. Due to being considered an elite Machine Beast, Bara Darts was kept on the planet Daraura alongside Bara Missiler, Bara Printer and Bara Baby.
Ohranger[]
Millions of years later, in 1999, Emperor Bacchus Wrath and his Empire return to Earth and launch an invasion of Earth where they rally thier forces but the Ohrangers arise to oppose them.
Bara Darts is seen in silhouette on the planet Daraura when Bacchus Wrath selects Bara Missiler to be the test subject for Acha and Kocha's growth program.
After the death of Bara Missiler, Bara Darts is sent to kill the Ohrangers by infecting them with a virus in his stingers that makes organics rust. He is first seen rampaging in the city center with some Barlo Soldiers when the male Ohrangers confront him but distracts them with his sharpshooting which allows Bara Darts to infect the three with his virus only for Juri and Momo to arrive and escape with the others using a smoke grenade. Unopposed, Bara Darts goes on a rampage until Juri and Momo return and he reveals that he has an antidote so they fight over it. Despite being outnumbered, he easily overwhelms both with his strength; de-morphing Momo and preparing to infect her only for Juri to deflect to Baranoia so Momo flees but Bara Darts stops Juri from following since she will eventually come for the antidote.
When Momo returns, Bara Darts watches and is eventually tricked into giving Juri the antidote after she accidentally gets infected by his poison. Although it is then revealed to have all been a trick to get the antidote, Bara Darts revealed the one he gave her was a grenade and he still has the real one. Despite that, the other Ohrangers reappear cured so he throws away the antidote only for them to be revealed as holograms. Although Bara Darts, Acha and Kocha and some Barlo Soldiers gain the upper-hand against Juri whilst Momo gets the antidote to the others, all five soon appear with Momo preventing him from poisoning Juri with an arrow before they morph to fight the Baranoians. Once the Barlo Soldiers are defeated, Bara Darts tries to infect Momo and Juri but his darts are deflected by the Chouriki Defensor and Twin Batons before being knocked out by the Chouriki Riser Attack. Acha and Kocha then enlarge him so they form Ohranger Robo which Bara Darts is more than a match for until Juri blasts him with the Vulcan Head's Vulcan Cannons and hits him with the Dogu Sky Kick. After shooting him with the Cannon Head's and knocking him down with the Moa Tornado, they cripple him with a slash from the Super Crown Sword and kill Bara Darts with the Crown Final Crash.
Bacchus Wrath executes his ultimate plan; harnessing the power of the Earth's volcanic magma, recreating an army of past Machine Beasts (including Bara Darts) as giants and upgrading them with the Magma Enhancement Program to allow them to kill the Ohrangers. However, the Ohrangers ultimately penetrate the cave system where the upgrades are taking place and destroy most of the monsters including Bara Darts by collapsing the cave on top of them.
Momo later remembers shooting Bara Darts with an arrow after the Ohrangers disband once the Machine Empire Baranoia is no more.
Personality[]
Bara Darts was a psychopathic and sadistic Machine Beast obsessed with poisoning and killing as many people as possible as well as enjoying watching Juri fight Momo. However, he was very loyal to Bacchus Wrath.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: Bara Darts was able to slap down Momo, restrain Momo by the arm, kick down Juri, throw down Juri and grab and throw her down by the leg.
- Charge: Bara Darts could charge with enough force to knock back Juri and Momo, knock down the latter when used just on her and, when giant, stun Ohranger Robo.
- Headbutt: Bara Darts can headbutt with enough force to knock back Ohranger Robo.
- Durability: Bara Darts is unfazed by jump kicks from Juri and Momo, two punches from Ohranger Robo, the Vulcan Head's Vulcan Cannons, the Dogu Sky Kick and the Cannon Head's blasts and Moa Tornado.
- Depth Perception: Bara Darts has depth perception despite only having one eye.
- Speech: Bara Darts can speak despite lacking a mouth.
- Skilled Fighter: Bara Darts is a skilled fighter who could match and overwhelm Juri and Momo in battle and is a match for Ohranger Robo until it equipped the Heads.
- Agility: Bara Darts can repeatedly dodge punches and kicks from Juri and Momo.
- Reflexes: Bara Darts is able to block and dodge multiple punches and kicks from Momo and Juri.
- Marksmanship: Bara Darts is an expert marksman, being able to shoot objects as small as apples on Barlo Soldier heads who were on a higher level.
- Electrocution: Bara Darts can produce one of his stinger barbs attacked to a cable and stab it into his enemies and electrocute them. This defeated Juri.
- Storage Compartment: Behind his single eye, Bara Darts has a storage component which he used to store his antidote until he was tricked out of it.
Arsenal[]
- Pincer Claws: Bara Darts has no weapons of his own but could smack or grapple and throw his enemies using his razor sharp pincer claws.
- Electrocution: Bara Darts can also charge his left pincer claw up with blue lightning to stab into his enemies and electrocute them. This knocked back Ohranger Robo.
- Tail: Bara Darts can use his stinger tail as a club to swipe and knock down his enemies.
- Poison Darts: Being scorpion based, Bara Dart's signature ability is where he fires long orange spikes from his tail that infect whoever they hit and kill them by making them rest. Even with the Ohrangers' Superpower protecting them, it would only take six hours to fully infect and kill them.
- Energy Darts: When giant, Bara Darts can fire yellow energy versions of his darts which can explode on contact. These are strong enough to cancel out the Vulcan Head's Dogu Vulcans.
- Poison Darts: Being scorpion based, Bara Dart's signature ability is where he fires long orange spikes from his tail that infect whoever they hit and kill them by making them rest. Even with the Ohrangers' Superpower protecting them, it would only take six hours to fully infect and kill them.
- Antidote Bomb: The antidote Bara Darts gave Juri was a fake grenade which exploded with enough force to knock down her and Momo.
- Horns: Bara Darts has razor sharp horns mounted low on his head that he can use to ram into his enemies. This was able to knock back Ohranger Robo with one hit.
- Lightning Blasts: Bara Darts can fire blue lightning from his horns which can cause large explosions and tear apart buildings as well as knock down Juri and Momo with a single hit.
