Bara Saucer is the UFO-themed Machine Beast of the Machine Empire Baranoia serving Emperor Bacchus Wrath and a supporting antagonist in Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. It serves as the main antagonist of the 2nd episode and a supporting antagonist in the 33rd episode.
Biography[]
Past[]
As with all members of the Machine Empire Baranoia, Bara Saucer was built as a naturally giant monster by Emperor Bacchus Wrath and Empress Hysteria some 65 million years ago on Planet Baranoia. Along with the rest of the Machine Beasts and the Barlo Soldiers, Bara Saucer helped them to devastate and conquer multiple planets.
Ohranger[]
Millions of years later, in 1999, Bacchus Wrath and his Empire return to Earth where he rallies his Barlo Soldiers and Machine Beasts before launching an invasion of the planet. Overconfident in their abilities, he initially only sends a small fleet of Takonpas and Bara Drill to conquer the defenceless planet but Goro Hosino defeats the attack as OhRed.
Despite the death of Bara Drill, the invasion of the Baranoia continues unimpeded but Bacchus Wrath grows frustrated with Earth's lack of a surrender. As such, he sends Acha and Kocha to Earth to deliver a surrender demand and then deploys Bara Saucer to destroy Tokyo until the government surrenders. Bara Saucer is first seen causing devastating destruction in the center of Tokyo; tearing many apart and ripping more buildings out of the ground as well as killing many. After grabbing a bus and placing it onto the rubble, Bara Saucer continues its rampage only for Goro and the other newly created Ohrangers to appear and destroy its Bara Soldiers. Bara Saucer rampages in an attempt to kill them but fails with Goro and Shouhei distracting the Machine Beast whilst their teammates go to rescue the bus's occupants. Although they succeed, Goro is nearly crushed in Bara Saucer's grasp and thrown away before the Machine Beast goes berserk; causing even more carnage with its energy blasts and by kicking cars around. With the hostages safe, the Ohrangers summon their personal weapons and pummel Bara Saucer; crippling it by hitting it in the eyes and joints and then killing the Machine Beast with two shots from the Big Bang Buster. With Bara Saucer's death, Bacchus Wrath is intimidated enough to withdraw his forces and call off the invasion.
Right after the initial invasion is thwarted, the Ohrangers recall defeating Bara Saucer before having to fight Bara Vanish.
The destroyed shell of Bara Saucer is scrapped and thrown in the Baranoian scrapheap where it is seen when angry pieces of machinery form Bara Revenger although its shell does not fuse with him.
Much later on, after the death of Bara Gūsuka, Emperor Bacchus Wrath executes his ultimate plan; recreating an army of past Machine Beasts (including Bara Saucer) as giants and upgrading them with the Magma Enhancement Program to allow them to kill the Ohrangers. However, the Ohrangers ultimately penetrate the cave system where the upgrades are taking place and destroy most of the monsters by collapsing the cave on top of them. Despite this, Bara Saucer and three other upgraded Machine Beasts are able to escape before the collapse.
Personality[]
Bara Saucer is shown to be a violent and relentless creature whose sole interest is destroying everything that it sees to an almost mindless extent. When angered, such as when the Ohrangers rescued its bus hostages, it goes berserk; throwing around cars and blasting anything in sight. However, it never speaks and is completely silent; never making a sound.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: Bara Saucer could destroy entire buildings by ramming its claws through them or smashing down on them, slam buildings into other buildings, pick up a bus like it was a toy as well as rip and flip cars like they were toys just by flicking them.
- Enhanced Strength: After being rebuilt and upgraded by the Magma Enhancement Program, Bara Saucer is much stronger; being able to restrain and throw around Blue Blocker.
- Durability: Bara Saucer is a tough creature, shrugging off the King Smashers' lasers as well as hits from the Ohrangers' personal weapons. It took the Big Bang Buster to destroy it.
- Non-Ageing: Due to being a robot, Bara Saucer is unable to age.
- Eye Blasts: Bara Saucer can fire powerful blue energy beams from its eyes which are capable of causing large explosions and knocking down Goro and Shouhei as well as obliterating a large pile of skyscrapers.
- Flight: After being rebuilt, Bara Saucer is able to fly around through the air.
Weaknesses[]
- Eyes: Stabbing Bara Saucer in the eyes like Goro did with the Star Riser blinded the Machine Beast and led to it going berserk.
- Joints: Although its body was covered in metal thick enough to withstand blows from the Ohrangers' weaponry, the joints on Bara Saucer's many arms were exposed and were its weak-points. Striking them repeatedly left the Machine Beast writhing and open to destruction.
Arsenal[]
- Pincer Claws: Bara Saucer has no weapons of its own but it can mutilate the enemy with its pincer claws.
- Tentacles: Bara Saucer has tentacles which it can use to wrap things up and even tear buildings out of the ground.
- Restraint: After being rebuilt for the Magma Enhancement Program, the tentacles were strong enough to restrain its enemies as seen with Blue Blocker.
- Buildings: During its rampage on Earth, Bara Saucer causes more chaos by ramming buildings into other buildings.
Trivia[]
- Due to its excessive violence and prominently appearing around Japanese people, as well as being defeated by being repeatedly stabbed, Bara Saucer's initial battle was not adapted into Power Rangers Zeo.
- However, its Magma Enhancement Program recreation was adapted into the episode "A Golden Homecoming."
