Baran is a minor antagonist of the dark fantasy Korean manhwa and light novel series Solo Leveling. He was once the Monarch of White Flames, the King of Demons, and one of the nine monarchs. He died at the hand of Ashborn after being sent by Antares alongside Rakan to kill Ashborn. Centuries later, in the modern world, a clone is created by the Architect to challenge the host of the System he created, Sung Jinwoo, making him indirectly as the main antagonist of the Return to Demon Castle Arc.

The clone of the original Monarch of White Flames who serves as the ruler of the Demon Castle in the present day.
Baran is treacherous as he shows no regards on betraying his comrades even after that one had assisted him in fighting the Ruler's army.
Appearance[]
Baran was shown to be a towering and muscular being. His body was covered in silver armors. As the king of demons, he possessed large horns beside his head with fire emitting. His clone created to fight Jinwoo is pratically an identical copy of him. In the anime, the clone is designed to have purple-colored skin unlike his manhwa counterpart.

Alongside the other his kind, they engaged in a impactful war as ordered by the Absolute Being, their own creator. Eventually, one of the most powerful of the Monarch, Antares became frightened of the another one of them, Ashborn. As a result, Baran and the Beast Monarch were assigned to kill him. Later on in battle, they were overwhelmed by Ashborn. With the rest of the army leaving the place, Baran is left behind due to succumbing many injuries. He is interrogated by Ashborn the reason for his treason to which he simply denies and request instead to end him as he is seized by the neck to which he does and dies at his hand.
Return to Demon Castle Arc[]
A decade passes as the human world is intented to be used for war. The Architect generates a clone of Baran to serve as a boss for his S-Rank dungeon, the Demon Castle. They immediately engages in a fight right after as the S-Rank hunter, Sun Jinwoo arrives at the dungeon's final level. The clone manages to overpower him and nearly kills him but gets distracted as he turns to his side to see the demon noble, Esil Radiru. Jinwoo takes the momentary timelapse, Baran gets his arm chopped off before having his head is blown away by a powerful blow of Jinwoo's fist.
